Hold On To Your Jaw. It’s A Model!

Model 4

Images do enlarge! Just right click.

That’s right, you read the headline right. This is an jaw dropping model by clearly one of the top speed boat model makers on planet earth. Oh, sure I bet there is someone on Jupiter that may do a version of THUNDERBIRD like this. But just try and see that one. We are working on a story on Jupiters Woody Boater community BTW. Its so much better than Plutos by the way. And well, Uranus’s group are a bunch of.. well. you know..
Model THUNDERBIRD 2

Anyway, back to this model by Greg Rice. We met Greg up at the huge Woods And Water event. I will add that even these photos don’t do this boat justice. Even the wood grain is to scale. WHAT THE HECK! Does he grow little trees?

Model THUNDERBIRD

Its PERFECT

MODEL THUNDERBIRD3

Does he use 5.200 on the bottom? OK, enough joking around. These models transcend the term Model and are works of art. Now, we could go into detail of how this was built, but there are 46 pages, yes 46 pages on the RC forum on the build. Good luck with the rest of your day. And forget what ever you think of yourself as a model maker. Its fair to say, you may need to move to another planet.

Model -2

The cushions look and yes, feel real. No plastic crap here.

Model 6

My jaw is on the key boarddddddddddddddddddd.

You can visit the RC forum link here. 46 pages. With youtube video in the water and all.

Jeeze. You’re resorting to “wait, there’s more” now? Ok. I guess I’m fine with that. As long as you’ll double my order for free. And throw in free shipping and handling. And a Clapper to seal the deal. So, what did I just buy?

Thanks for the kind words, Matt. We had a blast at the show. It is fun to share the models with folks who are so interested, knowledgeable and welcoming! We didn’t get the boats in the water at the show, but they do run. We hope to attend several more shows next year.

MFINE, Today is for you! The bacon was cooked and consumed, it’s 21 degrees up on this mountain top in central Va. and yes, we are headed to the lake for one more (last I hope) test hit on a new Acme prop that arrived yesterday. It will be great PURPLE HAZE is a Canadian boat so she can handle it even if us old farts die of pneumonia in the next few weeks. 🙂

    Thanks Phil!

I am going under the knife (again) on Monday to have my tonsils removed. I am told I will be unable to eat bacon for 2-3 weeks, so I will need all of you to pitch in and have a few extra slices for me.
