If I Could Turn Back Time

A very cool brochure from the 40’s.. GOODIES

The ease of finding parts, not that calling Jim, or Dave, or a bunch of the guys isnt great, and far more personal. But imagine being able to pop over to the marina and just pick up some of these goodies. Then again, it would be less special. Actually it would be like going over to Boat US and picking up a life jacket. Maybe 80 years from now that foam rubber thing will be cool, Vintage foam rubber? Look its still has its crime proof shop lifting tag. Original Bar code?

Horns!

HATS! Lancaster looking hats. And a Burgee with your name on it. And some engine goo stuff

Oluf Mikkelsen was also a big Evinrude dealership as well.

Lots of pages to go. I have some of these brochures at HQ and are fun to look at… once or twice. Then they go back on the shelf with all the Classic Boating Magazines I dont look at anymore. BUT SHOULD

And yes, the elephant in the room!

With on line ordering the norm now, it is amazing that there are some wholesalers that still send out a massive printed catalog. Where my wife works they receive at least 20 “telephone book” thick Grainger catalogs for everyone in their facilities departments. I ordered some things on line from ULine years ago and still receive quarterly catalogs.

Maybe these companies figure the old school guys aren’t computer savvy, although everyone orders their stuff on line. I will admit it’s easier looking through the book particularly if you don’t know the vendors part number, then ordering by that part number. Some search engines cannot decipher your description of what you’re looking for or they return with 1000 choices.

Yes, and many of those 1000 choices often have little, if anything, to do with what one searched for. Search engines have become far too focused on pushing sponsored products/sellers & often worthless at finding what one seeks!

Wow, that old Swede was doing business right in the Big Apple…imagine the traffic to get to that place…land or sea. Cool catalog though.
