It’s All About Those Fabulous Classic Boat Accessories!
A vintage ladder works just as good as a new one.
One of the more enjoyable parts of finding a new Woody Boat to love is accessorizing her with all the goodies that tell a story. For me, it’s hats and vintage cushions. OK, maybe a Faribault Throw here or there to soften up the interior.
Towing in a plastic boat! But look at those cushions.
OK, maybe a chair and cooler. But that’s where I stop. Unless you just happen to need a compass or clock. The thing is, if you’re going to need a boat hook, or cooler, shouldn’t it be vintage as well?

OK if you need binoculars, these are German Binoculars taken off a German Solder in 1945 by my father in WWII. Man what these things have seen! I recall using them when I was 5 and looking at the Alps. And on my first boat rides. Now they are used to look at Nuns and Cans and will be passed along to one of my sons.
Original Chris Craft boat hook and Chris Craft Mahogany Stick. Works great, and far far better than one of those new aluminum jobs.
Nor correct to Wecatchem, but cool on your Vintage 1960’s boat, life jackets. They just look cool!
Having a period fire extinguisher on board and tools is kinda cool at shows. But just for the look. Ladders, Search lights, flash lights, there are all sorts of cool stuff you can add to your trip out.

Now you can overdo it. You don’t want to junk it up. Its all about setting a look. Do you have a wonderful fabulous set of stuff?

Not sure, I have about 20 of them with various hats, this one hat came with the pin.

My dad and I finally installed an ‘acessory’ I had for his 1956 Lyman in time for a local parade yesterday… my 1954 Chevy Bel Air! We pulled the boat with it thanks to a period bumper hitch and his 1956 Gator trailer… rounding out the rig is a 1954 15 hp Evinrude. Both car and Evinrude have original paint.
Accessorizing is fun! We like to think that this is a typical family rig you would have seen at the boat launch in the late 1950s.

Daughter Sam made me these AWESOME etched rocks glasses. She even purchased the antique box and lined it.

Here is an accessory that is now mounted to the dash board of our Water Lily. It was first provided by my Grandmother, and has made money safe journeys on three generations of our treasured family boats.
That’s ” many safe journeys”. Some day I will learn how to type!

This table came from one of my parents cruisers around 1960. Amazing what does not get thrown out, so I’m using it now — 2nd generation.
