It’s November, It’s Gonna Be 80 Here. Do I?
Every year around this time here in the mid Atlantic, the weather toys with me. 80 in the day 50 at night, and then wam, 30, then 70. Its a roller coaster of do I or don’t I’s. For those of you that live in areas like me, you know exactly what I am talk’n about. It’s the gray area of weather. And mix in global warming, and well. Maybe squeeze out another two weeks? Maybe even a Thanksgiving boat ride. To be honest, it’s a sort of torture, gambling, and Mother Nature is holding some sort of blackmail over me.
Take the boat in and winterize now and I will slam you with a week of 75 degree weather and make you just look at that flat water and say. UGH, WHY WHY WHY did I Winterize?
Or there is of course the AHHHHHHHHH! It’s gonna be in the 30’s all week. Get her out, get here out. NOW! And there ya have it. BTW, multiply that by three boats still in the water. Just say’n. Yes it’s a problem, HEY I have stored away three as a gift to the weather gods. So there is that.
You can see more of Roy Furchgott’s Photo’s here on his special photo website. He travels all over and loves taking portraits. Oh and is a total gear head.
Yesterday was 77, today 50. I gave up on the crap shoot and put them both away for the winter a couple weeks ago. Don’t like winterizing in 40 degree weather any more!
Much rather winterize in the sun at 60-65 degrees than rain and 45-50. Pulled the main dock out at Keuka yesterday (boat dock last week) on a sunny and 70+ degree day-cold and rain are on the way. Closing the cottage soon and on to ski season.
Too risky to leave them in here
Minneapolis: Record of 80 on Tuesday, 3″ of snow on Thursday. Up north, the dock’s are still in at the Fabulous Moonlite Bay, with 2 boats for the meat raffle on Wednesday.
Matt,
You have your own boat ramp. Go ahead & put the inboards away. Launch an outboard, go for a ride and put it back on the trailer & away. We only pulled the Aristocraft as early we did, because it winters in our basement garage. We need a few days of dry weather for the steep, grassy hill to be firm to back the trailer down there.
Matt, Suzy does have that “new to you” outboard boat. That doesn’t need the heavy winterization that your inboard boats do so you alwayc have that for lat Fall/early Winter boat rides. Yeah, I know it’s not wood but it’s a boat.
❤️
Wow these are amazing pics, Roy! I’m bummed we missed the shoot!
Me too. I had a secret ambition to catch “the whole damn fam,” or at least those available. And to get you kids separately.
last week on Tahoe. This week : high of 38 and snow coming in.
