Keep The Snow Away, It’s Think Warm Thoughts Day, Today!

Aaron LaDonnes photo of summer warms my soul.
Well, this past Wednesday 1 inch of snow shut down DC for 9 hrs! ONE inch! And now we are on target for 25!, It’s coming, the weather people are frothing about what a mess we are going to get, and how we are all going to die from 25 inches of snow. With up to 50 miles per hour winds. Well, that calls for one thing! Summer photos! Sweaty shots, bathing suit shots, dogs, kids, wives, husbands, grandfathers back in the day. So lets show old man winter and his ugly albino brother Snow that it’s always warm here in Woodyboaterville.

Taking a break on Lake Jocassee. 😀
You guys are doing it all wrong. You gotta get out and enjoy the season and before you know it you are scrunched up under your boat applying paint contrary to laws of gravity and getting it all on your face…
So here in Toledo, Ohio we have finally begun our iceboating season. (Yes they are woody boats, and the float- sort of). We expect 20+ iceboats this weekend, and as many as 50 the next for fun and frolic on the Maumee Bay. Next weekend is the Winterfest which will have races and iceboat rides to those who can figure out how to dress. (yes, layers… layers of warm clothing).
Just another day on the lake with Fender.
Up here in Minnesota were enjoying the 70 degrees at the Minneapolis Boat Show. The BSLOL crew were hard at work in negative degree weather trailering vintage boats down to the convention center and setting up a great display!
Dennis Evinrude and Randy Wagner at Pewaukee Lake Glacier Lakes Boat Show. Almost 100 degrees that day. Should help keep snow to a minimum.
My favorite things; my kids and my boat
In that order?
Here in Nashville we have thundersnow. The airport and interstates are closed. I’m out in the lake putting on sunscreen.
Wylie, which lake in Nashville? We are about two hours away, and are looking for a place to float our boat!
This is how we roll in Northern Michigan! After 18″ of snow last weekend, we strap on the snowshoes and head deep into the woods! Thoughts and prayers to our friends in the DC and surrounding areas for this weekend! The countdown for Tavares is on…looking forward to a ride or two with my friends!
Blizzard conditions predicted for tomorrow. Summer seems so long ago right now.
Mystery 1960 lapstrake with original varnish. Runs like new. Perfect warm sunny day on the lake. Great memories!
Labor Day weekend at Blake Island State Park with the entire family. We celebrated a milestone of sorts that weekend – The first solo through the locks for our son Paul and his fiance Kristi as they joined us in “Sindbad” a couple days after we got out there. 🙂

Images like this are keeping us warm in Iowa. Here’s our 1955 Continental on it’s second launch after a full restoration. New to the wood boating world and looking forward to meeting other woodyboaters when the ice thaws!
I’m wearing “sweat” pants and sandals. Does that count? Sorry, no selfies included…
Nothing beats warm weather, happy kiddos, and well tuned boat!
Well except maybe attractive women in tiny bikinis riding in said well tuned boat… 😉

Remember, we gave you 75-degree weather on the third weekend of September in Northern Minnesota for Woods & Water. It could have been snowing THEN.
The only gasping I am doing now is after shoveling the driveway for the second time. Only 3 more times to go!
