Know When To Step Away From The Varnish

A special dust tent. Believe it or not, I made it myself
Varnishing, has changed my perspective on life. Ya, this is going to be one of those deep thoughts stories. Yesterday, okay over the weekend I needed to paint the bottom of WECATCHEM and fix some varnish issues caused by my stupidity. So ya, it was a lot of them. So what is the deep thought about varnishing?

Looks great from about 10 ft
Well, grasshopper, one must take ones time, and have a proper set up. Proper brush, proper air, temperature, and the most important part. when to stop and walk away slowly. That’s right, simple strokes, and stop and leave the space and go do something else. You cant rush it, or cut any corners, and hanging around too long just makes it messy. And be ready to do it all over again, and again, and yes.. Again.

Ready for her new Shaft. For those of you asking before, the engine is insane perfect and on various trials, she has a ton more smoother power. I have not been 100% on this. I have distractions.
Here is a tape removal video. This sort of thing is very popular on social media for some reason. 1,700 views over night.

thanks for doing a video on a very complex thing like pulling off tape Im positive everyone learned a lot from that.
hmmmm……
I had to watch half expecting to see a big chunk of the bootstripe come off with the tape. Can’t say how many times that has happened.
I am horrible at Varnishing….so I have adjusted my personal expectations…just don’t much care as it gets in the way of Going Boating. But: the rule for Varnishing is like the rule for taping sheetrock…”the last time you touched it…should have been the last time you touched it”….just stop.

Varnish: You never really finish, but at some point you quit.
I wish you would stop using posts on Instagram. I am not on it and do not want to start another social platform to suck up my time. Any alternatives to seeing these posts?
Dito Dennis!
I’ll second that Dennis.
omg, seriously…….
HA! Its a different audience. They dont even know WoodyBoater is a website. I use the video only to feed the site. The reason. Loading time. A Embedded link from Youtube or other platforms is easy, and cant do it here. So I link to the only real social platform I use.
Your second to last coat is always better then the last one.
