Leap Day Sausage!
Well, sorry if today is your birthday, cause it only happens every 4 years. So on a good side, you are a lot younger than you thought. The other good news is because you are about 15, you can have all the sausage you want. Wooohoooo. Which of course brings up the “Saturday Weigh In” Lets just say, I am waiting a bit this morning to weigh in. Come on Varnish Coffee! Sorry to leave that image in your brain. So quickly just scroll down and bask in the sausageness of the day.
Never been there but bet that Joe and Gert were great people. Love the DYC burgee in the second Sterling Engine add.
I been there. It’s across the canal from Dino’s. It’s a dive bar.
FYI Greg Lewandowski’s beautiful boat “Tiger Lily” is the feature boat on the ACBS website this morning.
Sausage days have become some of my favorites!
Matt: Thanks for the socks! Now maybe I will know which way I am going.
1 # down from last week. A new low since we started this weigh in thing.
I’m pleading the fifth. These jumped in my cart.
FYI Greg Lewandowski’s beautiful boat “Tiger Lily” is the feature boat on the ACBS website this morning.
Sorry for the repeat – didn’t think it posted the first time.
Dayem Troy! If I weighed what you do I wouldn’t be dieting anymore! Bacon and sausage for breakfast and then off the Costco for one of their cheesecakes for lunch.
I’m saving up for Dora!!
Pieces Rising, Banana’s Foster! Ya!!!
Anyone else notice the first picture with the pose. That the boat looks to have a deadman’s throttle on it. Love those old magazine boat ads
Here is the rest of that ad plus another one
Ok it looks like one posted so take two
Anyone else find it inappropriate that P.K. Wrigley is described as being “Wasp Owner” why inject the man’s race and religion, something’s never change!
WASP was actually the name of P.K. Wrigley’s 88′ power yacht. He had another yacht named WASP II. So he was WASP’s owner.
Now Let’s see the engines
Buckeye Lake. Quite a pleasure destination when that photo was made. The lake went into decline in the 80s and 90s. Now they are bringing it back. There is a Wooden boat show there at the Buckeye Lake Yacht club. Nice show! I got shafted on a Penn Yan there once. We made a hand shake. I offered to pay him money to hold it he declined. I made arrangements to pick it up, the morning I was ready to leave He texted me saying he sold it. A$$ H@le. Oh well it all worked out in the end.
I love the old ads that are drawings of boats with people aboard who are 5/8 the size they should be to be in proportion to the boat!
Joes Harbor was later Freds Marine. He was an old outboard mechanic, he sold bait and other stuff. Ive launched boats there back when it was Freds. My brother Bubba still lives 25 yrds from there on the other side of channel. Now its a bar like Staib said.
I recall going there with my father back in the mid-50’s. We kept our boat across the road at Kramer’s Boat Company.
Later in the late 60’s I would frequent the Last Resort on Friday and Saturday nights for the name bands ( like the Kingsmen ) and the female company they attracted.
218.4 this morning is the exact same as last saturday I think.
Every article and the comments I learn more and more of what history there was in this obsession we call Woodyboaterville…. Very cool indeed.. any pics of the 12 cyl. Lycoming?
OK. Fast forward to February 29,2020. Not Joe’s anymore.
OH god! Thats funny. What a difference a great photo .. and not makes.
