Let The Games Begin

Art, Destination of the Month

The flag is up!

We have officially made it and moved into the Woody Boater White House, located on Lake Dora. This year we will be able to go back and forth to the show and area in a boat. the way god intended it to be. Folks are starting to trickle in from all over the country and spring is HERE! Let’s get this party started. But first, I need to rest a bit with a boat ride and my bride!

Unpacking the goodies

I could sit here all day, and just might.

The Woody White House, and yes, we know, its grey, like all of us!

The lake from our South Lawn!

Stay tuned, we will have a special first lady tour of the Woody White House.  Here is a teaser to give you a preview of the tour

Just completed restoration of a late-50’s Holsclaw Bro’s, Inc boat trailer to be used for my wooden boat. Does this site ever have articles of the rigs that haul our prized possessions? Just curious…..as there’s lots of interesting history re: Holsclaw Bros….I’m guessing/hoping that I’m not the only one with this brand of trailer (originally built in Indiana). Before & after shown here.

A “Trailer Day” would have been a good choice weeks before this upcoming event as a public service for all those making the trip. And regarding your trailer specifically, bunks should carry the load. Maybe you could adjust your rollers to be just guides without putting undue pressure on the hull.

And I forgot to add that those parallel longitudinal steel trailer frames could be modified to have bunks installed to carry the load assuming you could get the correct thickness of wood and carpet to carry the load and not the rollers.

      Bob,
Matt will occasionally have some vintage trailer discussion. To get specific feed back related to your Holsclaw, go to a web site called fiberglassics, find the main forum, then scroll down to “Trailer Talk”. There are several threads that discuss Holsclaw.

If you look at the bottom of the page you will find ” search Woody Boater” type in trailer and you will find lots of stories

Great restoration…but wrong place to post it today to get good exposure to your question.

I would replace those rollers with bunks if you are hauling a Woodie. Yes, there is a double row of them to spread the load…but the rollers still press at pinpoints rather than spreading the load evenly. Bad chance of imprinting the roller profiles on the bottom of the boat. Find the trailer thread around here….

Speaking of trailers, I am firmly convinced that when I die, before I can hop on the Highway to Hell, I will have to stop and fix the trailer lights. BTW, in case anybody missed it, I do plan on taking my S%$#T with me.

With a “Highway to Hell” and a “Stairway to Heaven”, it seems to say something about the expected traffic.
