M-fines Invisible Stick

,

Look Ma, no hands.

A week ago we showed you this image, and of course you all wanted to know more, and most importantly, how did we pull of that shot. Not a drone, and not a Go Pro. So what is the way, The Invisible Stick. With a bug eye camera with a bunch of lenses. Yup. With this camera you can scroll around the entire scene. Front back up and down. The easiest way to splain it, is like google street view. I am still trying to figure out how to show it here, because it needs to be contained in its own app.

The stick! Visible.

But the coolest part is the invisible stick. Yup!

The software in the camera, stictches together all the footage and creates a 360 view and removes the stick. You can see in this image, how it kinda works.

If you look closely, Mfine is holding the invisable stick and the fish eye lenses are out front. Its insane and 100% true. Or is it? Happy April Fools? Or is it?

I thought M-Fine’s only secret was what he rubbed on his meat. The Pastrami and Ribs were awesome! Now he has a stick secret too.

I personally do not care how he does it. It is pretty cool! I just thoroughly enjoyed both the dock shots, as well as the more artistic “stick” shots m-fine shared. Speaking as one of the Dora non-attendees, thank you m-fine!!! As far as your ability as a chef, I can only hope to experience that one day!

The camera is an Insta360 X3 mounted on the end of an “invisible selfie stick” that their software automagically removes from the shots. It is pretty darn amazing but not quite perfect yet. The shadows of the stick and camera still show up, and if you get water on the lenses while bouncing around at 40 mph, it can get a bit confused and Ben ends up with two heads, and Matt can end up posting the same shot 3 times! The two heads can be fixed with manual stitching in post, but I like the anomaly better!

I’m not falling for anything today. The only invisible stick I know of is the one my parents use to threaten me with when I was growing up.
