Mirror Water, A De…light To Photograph
Get it? Light? De light.. It’s a pun, and even worse, I am telling you its a pun, which is even more pathetic. But the photos sure are not pathetic. Okay maybe the photographer is, and I just lucked out with the light…de…light. Oh just shut up. You do this everyday and you too will be writing dumbass puns to make something of a story

Like glass

Black and white De light.

One of those moments you are happy to have a camera.

And following the geese, CLICK – Sunset on the creek.

How dark it was

Even at night – this is all shot on the new iphone 14 Pro. The camera is insane
And even during the big Queens ball we reported on yesterday

One of my faves from yesterday – no retouching, no nuth’n, right out of the phone

The small ripples make me smile

It was pitch dark, looks like dusk, but nope, see the moon?
And just because..
and just to keep it more janky today.
The writer Bill Danoff, of Afternoon delight also wrote? Wait for it…

Beautiful photography. I remember when phones were used for talking to people!
Who doesn’t love flat water!
I wanna know how you photo shopped every one of those geese in the header shot cause I know you didn’t sit out there waiting for that opportunity. And when they fly in formation don’t their wings flap perfectly in unison? Just kidding-you hit the trifecta and I know you would sit outside waiting for that opportunity but you’re also lucky as hell.
I saw them coming while I was shooting, and thought. Good god dont f this one up.
And I am not sure why they did not cause a reflection as well. Somewhere there is some sort of perspective stuff going on here.
I see everything else reflected in that picture even the thin rigging lines. You might have unknowingly discovered some anti-reflective qualities of goose feathers that could be used on our combat planes.
Know why one side the goose formation is longer? It’s because there are more geese on that side.
What great pictures Matt !! And whats better is that I can see them clearly, I can also read and write this comment. I have recovered from eye surgery. I will spare you all the details. It has not been fun. But i”m back and ready for some winter boat projects!
Matt some very good photography there but I can see the geese’s reflection on the water.
Great pics
I watched about 20 seconds of that creepy Afternoon Delight video and then I got that barfy in the back of the throat feeling. Gross.
The photos are beautiful.
Amazing shots. You give an art director with an eye like yours an iPhone 14 Pro and the results are incredible.
But as a fellow ad guy I’m sure you remember my first boss: Tom McElligott. He famously said “Puns are the hallmark of a hack.” And as a writer, I’ve never used one in an ad, let alone put one on my transom.
HA! no ship! One rule that was a Chiat/Day rule. Any headline that starts with HOW TO can be written better.
We have some fairly calm water here on the Saint John’s river also.
