New Johnson Still In Its Box – Rated P
WARNING: There are two ways to read this story. One G Rated, the other P rated.. For Perv. I have tried to write this several times snd no matter how I write it, it has a Rated P edge to it. So just ignore that part of your brain. Cause there really isn’t anyway to avoid it.
I mean come on. Johnson, Box, wood, all pun landmines. Your 12 year old brain takes over and the giggles happen. SO I AM SORRY. I did not name this company. Okay.. Can we just move on and start drooling over this Johnson..
Thanks to fellow Woody Boater John Lisicich for the tip. OH GOD! See what I mean.. YOU CAN SEE MORE HERE ON EBAY.
See the guys name who’s selling is dick
I think this is sort of what it looks like out of the box.
Nope, the motor you are showing is the later TD series. The motor in the box is the KD. They made 2 versions of the K, a KD, “D” for “deluxe” which meant it had the recoil starter, and the KS, which was the same motor but with a rope sheave for starting using a pull rope.
George, I stand corrected. But in my defense I did say “sort of”, LOL!
Speaking of Johnson’s in boxes………good thing you can fold them in half to transport.
It’s Hard not to laugh.
Now shown in an attractive wrapper with EZ carry handle too!
$11,500 WOW. HEY MATT! Do you still have the biggest balls award? I mean seriously?
A great looking motor one would never be able to use! Talk about depreciation “when you drove it off the lot” .. Hopefully it’ll be donated to a museum and this is just a ploy to establish a value? But gems like these are so rare and cool to see how things were shipped and delivered, back in the day. but these are the types of things I would buy if I won the lottery! and maybe that 30′ Chris Craft from last week! 🙂
You can only leave your Johnson in the box for so long.
I mean you gave the whole rest of the day …
I need to add to my comment on the model differences. On the box it is marked “KDL” which makes it the long shaft version, not very suitable for standard transom heights.
I have a friend that has Evinrude, carrying case but no woodie box, like your Johnson.
Hey Matt what kind of box did your johnson come in japanese elm?
I have an old Johnson box also. It is pretty big. Found it in an old cabin that my family bought in the U P a few years back. It was being used as a wood box. My brother has tracked down the guy that has The Johnson that came in it. We just need to get those two together again.
So…. looking at the pics further, the motor doesnt appear to be NOS but maybe gently used but stored in the original crate? Still cool but thats a lot for a new crate…
And I have never noticed them being labelled Seahorses , rather Seahorse.
And whats a “Lem Lubber”? (From the common sense card)
….slow Friday before afternoon Zoom calls,…. whats wiht people who schedlule work meetings at 3:30 on a beautiful day!
I always am impressed by the values some seller place on their post-WWII motors. They made so many of these motors.. thousands and thousands of them. And crates show up from time to time. I agree with Lem, appears to not be NOS. Yes it’s cool, but more like $350 to $500 cool, IF that. Good luck to the seller with the sale. They shall need it.
I mean, they made so many.. employees could take one home to kick around during their annual vacation from production!
Box says green, were there other colors available?
They were also available in silver. I have a KS that has a rope start. It is silver.
