New Old Stock GarWood Upholstery
While we prep and travel from all over the planet to the 9th Annual Virtual Holiday Party TOMORROW, we found this very cool NOS thing to debate over today. The ebay listing has one photo, which is enough. This is being sold by someone that has access to some very cool stuff. And I can’t imagine they are not readers. So maybe they will chime in. If you are restoring a GarWood that had a blue interior. Good god! today you won the lottery, no matter what the cost.

Chuck Grewe. Yankee Girl Boatworks. One of the first to collect Boats and parts. Close to All the major plants in Saint Clair.
Thanks Jim! I have known Jim for many years. He is a class act and a stand up guy who really knows the old boats!! Please stop by and see me the next time you are in town, I have a box of stuff for you.
Glad to see Jim knows who this is.
This is an interesting claim: “I have the World’s Largest Selection of Original Antique and Classic Boat Parts.”
Looks like Chuck is also into Airplane parts.
Yes, I still have a lot of parts. You can visit my website to see over a thousand pictures of what is just small sample of what is still available at http://www.chriscraftone.com
I dialed back on marketing the parts 20 years ago when I became involved in aviation. For years I advertised in 10 National magazines and travelled to shows, now I just have the website.
I was very fortunate and able to fly all over the world. That being said, I still love the old boats and helping folks restore them as authentically as possible, to help to preserve their history.
I also like to work on old airplanes and antique motorcycles so I sell surplus parts as they come along, as well.
I’d be concerned about old upholstery fabric cracking. Or tearing at a stitch line from the needle perforating the fabric.
Thanks for your comment!
You know, that was my concern as well, when I acquired the inventory from Garwood when they closed their doors in the late 1940’s. However, this is still as soft and supple as the day it was made and the color is unchanged. Maybe it was the fact that it was hidden in a secret room in a blind pig for 40 years before I discovered it. I could send you a small sample if you had any interest.
Chuck is a nice and honest seller. I bought 3 or 4 boats from him when he put his collection up for sale 22 years ago.
Thank you for the kind words! I always enjoyed our visits.
I only have two boats left for sale out the 46 boats I originally had. I have a 19′ 1946 Chris Craft Cedar Hull Racing Runabout and the 1929 28′ Ditchburn.
I am going to keep the Hacker Craft Ride Boat that was used at the Walled Lake Amusement Park here in Michigan.
I feel sorry for any of you who did not come to the Pre-Party!
Looks like it is going to be a wild time this year!
Is anyone else coming to the Pre-Party?
