Not Only Am I Climbing The Walls, I Varnished Them As Well.

The new entrance to the Woody Boater Floor

This week lets focus on all the crap we are getting done stuck at home. I have always been a glass half full person, so I shifted my brain  a while back and thought. Well, you keep complaining about not having enough time to get stuff done. So.. Mother Nature has provided me with such a time.

And this is after I started cleaning

In our house has been a dark miserable basement. Yes a basement 50 ft from the water. Makes zero sense, but the house was built in 1925 and the basement was the front door to a small two story home.

It has brick walls

It had two lights down there and is full of crap that. Well just put it in the basement stuff.

New office space

So I decided, I am going to take out the crappy tile ceiling, and clean up all the close to 100 years of not use wires, phone lines etc. And put in new LED lights.

It has a bar? Who knew? It was jus a place to hold junk

Well.. Slap me silly. The dark dingy walls are stunning.. Even lined like a deck of a boat. And with some light sanding, cleaning and Varnishing. KAPOW..

All the ladies love it in the basement

Perfect walls..

Perfect for hanging around

Which inspired a total move for the now Woody Boater Floor of the casa. I was evicted from the former HQ because of the remodel and it was turned into a dining room. Which if now fine. Cause I have my own space!

New floor soon.

Leaving the ceiling exposed. Ya never know in an old home when somethings gotta be fixed.

I thought the wood steps could be nice. BUT those walls

Its like finding an entire floor for our house. Amazing

Lots of space… FOR ME! And my evicted crap. And I have tons of crap.. All boxed up and will be unpacked this week. Flags, Transoms, etc

AQUAHOLIC is ready to keep us all afloat.

Thanks to those of you that sent in fun stuff you are doing. We will have fun all week, staying working, and alive! Be safe, Be home, be YOU!

Nice Man Cave Matt. The brick and wood walls really make it. It’s amazing there are no water issues being below the water table!

very nice! exposed brick walls & wood beam ceiling – you have an underground loft! Is there a head down there too?

the entire basement has been done by Be Dry System. It floods if the sump pump stops working. And I have a system for that now, as well as amazing gutters. Note the floor is conrete. It stay cool in the summers and warm in the winter. I suppose the cool part was because it was built back in the day. Not really sure when the brick was done.

I have the same mahogany paneling (it’s from my parent’s house) in storage. Always meant to finish the inside of my boathouse with it, but I’m a woody boater with no woodworking skills.

Just a thought, but if painted that exposed ceiling white or a light color it would really lighten up the space. And keep you out of Suzy’s hair for a couple more days.

Amazing what happens when we find time to do stuff we’ve been putting off, isn’t it? I had a little pre-fab building delivered to my back yard, which now holds most of my “must save” boat pieces and -as a result- the garage/shop is getting re-worked and useless stuff thrown out so I have room to get three or four boats in there to work on. There is a bunch of stuff in there I never knew I had… Matt, that man cave is fantastic – what a refuge! We need them these days…

Finally finished my stern sign. Made from scraps I had. Now I have to think of a name?

    From Home Alone…

KEVIN: I’ve always been afraid of our basement. It’s dark, there’s weird stuff down there, and it smells funny; that sort of thing. It’s bothered me for years.

    MARLEY: Basements are like that.

MATT: But I told myself, it’s no big deal, look at what I did with ours…

    Looks great!
