OK, We Need An Official Ruling On These Shirts

screen-shot-2016-12-27-at-11-48-21-pmFirst, I love these shirts. Second, I also love my old Porsche shirts, Corvair jacket, and countless other more dressy shirts with stuff on them. That sit in the closet until they are put into a box by the boatress. So we have established that we like the shirt, yes? But here is the ruling needed advice on.

screen-shot-2016-12-27-at-11-48-30-pm Can you actually wear these things? With your wife around? Or even more confusing, if you are looking for a date, cause your now X wife never understood your need to wear dress shirts with old boats and cars on them? For the record, at boat shows all is fare! We are talking out to dinner or to a cocktail party? is it to much? The good news this one is on ebay and in the right size for most of us.YOU CAN SEE IT HERE ON EBAY

All my boat shirts are “off limits” when Marianne is cleaning out the closet. They have to always be ready for that special event.

Love the header. Brian Cuthbertson’s shop is the place to go for engine repair in Algonac and he is personally a great guy!

Of course you wear them. But, I’m in Florida and tacky shirts are everywhere. That’s all I wear. Don’t know what that says about me. Lol. Ask me if I care….I’m in Florida.

They can’t be too bad…My wife found and bought a couple while in a mens shop at Tahoe one year. I still wear them even on occasions when no boats are around.

    Terry:—You remember that trip ?

I have a white one and a blue one that I wear on occasion , who cares after one gets older, your not trying to impress a female so you wear your boat shirt anywhere.

When I first joined ACBS back in 2002 I received and E mail shortly after saying that my name had been drawn for $100.oo worth of merchandize from the ships store. I promptly ordered a couple of shirts one of them being a long sleeve Denham with the ACBS logo. Cuffs are tattered and the color is practically worn through. My wardrobe scrutinizer has tried to toss it out more than once, I pick it out of the trash and hang it back where it belongs!

I own 3 or 4 boat shirts and thus have an opinion on the subject.
Of course you can wear them any where any time.
They make a great conversation starter without the need for a battery.
My wife likes them and has gone to great lengths to purchase them, although I don’t think there is presently anyone selling them, too bad as they are not revarnishable.

Over the past several years of Classic cars and boating, i have half my closet full of these kind of shirts. I try to support the host event that has things for sale. My problem I need 3xxx. and most time I strike out finding one.
I also have always made up custom dress shirts with the boat name and marque name on them. Trouble is I change boats so often that I now have a closet full of shirts with old boat names on them, but who cares. They make great conversation starters, and I always love talkin about Classic boats.

Aloha and happy almost new year! These shirts are awesome! Heck if there were one with a Fairliner Torpedo all over print on it I would be wearing that baby everywhere. I’m also a ukulele collector and have a bunch of ukulele shirts that I wear all the time. My awesome and wonderful wife and best friend in the whole wide world still loves me when I wear them and has encourage me to wear my uke shirts. So, if I had a Torpedo shirt I’d be wearing it every where. What better way to spread Aloha than with an Woody Boat Aloha Shirt. Wear it with pride!!!

I have several of these. One has runabouts on it and I have one w/ cruisers all over it. Not everyone can pull off wearing something like these. There is a time and place for everything. My wife loves them.

If it makes any difference to you kids I’m 32 years old and have a short sleeve shirt from “North River” that is all classic woodies on it. I wear it in the summer. Its a little big but I have to represent the woodie boats in the summer!

The shirts are neat (and wearable), but as an ex-Michigander now living in a state where it isn’t available, I am drawn to the cool Vernors thermometer (clock?) in the header. We stock up on Vernors when visiting MI family!

I have gotten a few shirts over the years with varying degrees of quality. One or two are quite tastefully done and the others seem to be more on the cartoon side of the scale. The one thing they all have in common is it doesn’t matter which one I wear. Inevitably someone will come to me and say “Cool shirt, is that a Chris Craft? It’s comforting to know that a shirt reminds me that there is only company in the history of the world that made antique and classic boats.
