Okay, Just One More Woods And Water Story
It’s official, Woods And Water will now be called, Woods And Milk. I gotta say, not only was this clearly the best event EVER, but the milking has been epic. Like our Royal Wedding milking. Oh sure the restoration of Zip sure was up there. But nothing comes even close to this. WHY? Well, the images have been breathtaking. Seriously insane photography, reporting, and yes, actual stuff to shoot. After all thats what makes the story so compelling. Steve Lapkin, Holly Weber and Dane Anderson nailed it. John Allen, Lee Anderson, Bob Murdock, and countless others brought the stories. We just captured it. THANK YOU from the bottom of my bilge soaked heart.
This is the future of reporting for sure. For family reasons I had to stay home. Trust me, a hard call, this was THE EVENT of the century. But as it turned out, made it possible to report better. When you are in the throws of the event, you are wiped out by the end of the day. Then doing a story, culling through the thousands of images, is too much. So this works out great. It is a village thing. Marina thing? Okay, anyway, Steve sent us in some outtakes from a photo shoot the other morning. OUT TAKES. As in his lips and snouts. WTH! Thanks to everyone for making this a memorable week…s
Imagine being on one of those boats when this is going on! Doug Morin gets to have all the fun.
Thanks for a great start to the morning!
It must be spectacular to attend in person, but it would be sensory overload for this person. Thanks to those that captured such fantastic images and the work the Matt did to make it enjoyable to look through! Matt, I do hope the “family reason” you had to stay home for is not serious. Have a great day all!

This is something you need to view on your big monitor desk top not your phone like I’m doing sitting in a waiting room. Can’t wait to get home to view these poster worthy shots. The best process is to right click on a picture and select “open picture in new tab” and you can view these in all their glory on your big screen monitor. This may already be a known process for some but doesn’t hurt to review with something as special as these amazing shots.
My work is done!
Thank you Matt. Thank you Dave Bortner and Andy Luikens for your leadership. Thank you John and Lee for your generosity and jaw dropping “boathouses”. Thank you, Dane, Holly and Steve for capturing it all. Thank you to our sponsors. Thank you to the ACBS, their judges, and Seth’s constant social media posts. But most of all, thank you to the tireless volunteers from the Land-o-Lakes Classic Boat Club.
(Oh, and thank you Mark Setterholm, for letting me spend three days in your Riva.)
Good Milk! Thank you all.
Floyd f turbo: you got the right idea! I started downloading the landscape oriented photos to my personal iCloud Drive so that I can loop through them on my AppleTV screen saver. The photos maintain great resolution on my large TV.
That first shot of Teaser is amazing. Kudos Steve!
Thank you, Brian. GREAT to be with you, and all others, at Gull!
Jeepers. Well I’m going to be bold. Steve, that opening shot of Teaser is hands down THE BEST IMAGE Of A WOODEN BOAT YOU’VE EVER CREATED. It’s certainly the best I’ve ever seen. That shot right there proves that there’s always something new, we’ve just got to find it. Absolute 5 star gold. Well done mate.
Thank you Duster!
