“You’re the First, the Last, My Everything”

Words and imagery by Steve Lapkin – Vocalist Barry White brought us the tune – “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything” which prompts, perhaps, this final (for the moment) collection of visuals from last week’s woody gathering at Clayton, New York: the 50th Anniversary of The Antique and Classic Boat Society and their wooden boat display and judging competition.

Some sweet bow action

No matter what the number of clicks, those who traveled many miles with their boats for as much on-the-water time as the calendar would rationally provide, I garnered this gallery. The photo week was both impromptu and choreographed: some of what you see was the creation of pre-planned, repeatable movement sequences, while impromptu (or improvisational) was spontaneous movement created at the moment.

I guess you had to be there to really appreciate how fun that Saint Lawrence River cruising was, but all the wonderful images by Steve, Holly and Chris really document the fun we had. Thank you Matt for sharing all this with the WoodyBoaters that couldn’t be there!

My photo is of the Boat the Blue crew giving our pitch for the big party in Port Huron next year.

    It was a wonderful week!!!!

The one great part that WB’er reporting missed out on was the Boldt Castle tour. It was so cool we went back a second time.

As much as I love seeing all our friends during these events, staying a few extra days is always so enjoyable.

I was standing about 10 feet away from the Chrysler Queen when they fired her up a few years back. The ground trembled and I thought my heart was coming out of my chest. What a bark!! Will never forget it.
