Passing Gas Can Cure The Winter Blues

Fresh Painted engine
Well, it’s getting to be that time of year. Lake Dora Prep time. I had put a fresh coat of VanNess pre war engine paint on Stinkys engine and had to paint over the older Pass Gas SPECIAL logo I had created. So I made a new one that feels a little more “of the time” and spirit of the day. Mitzi Pembrook as you may recall was good looking for sure, but she had a little lactose problem.. Just say’n. Anyway. Here are some fun photos of me butchering the art of lettering.

Chalking the engine

All the hatch screws are in a special box

Christmas 1914. I have had this box my entire life, given to me by my parents. I think my moms dad was given it in WWI – If you look it up it was a gift package from the Princess Mary to the British troops. MORE INFO HERE

Back to the chalk

Chalk and a go by graphic

I was shaking so bad, I had to stop, and wait. I am bright red cause I am holding my breath, and a camera with my left hand.

Each stroke is insane, the engine base is not smooth. Coat one

Two coats and starting to look ..well, not bad..

Now cleaning her up.. Why? I dont know.. It really doesnt help at all. She will be ready for Lake Dora ! Woohooo

Getting ready for a “little” boating
Hey paint fumes are just as good as varnish fumes when you are desperate for anything boat related
Hey Matt, I think those photos are in your office. You are doing this on company time? What if the boss finds out!!!
I can smell it from here!
My office never looked that appealing, and I was in the paint finishing system business.
I did it over the weekend. Had to work all weekend and had a couple hrs on Saturday morning to kill before the staff showed up. I wish I could sneak away.
How’s the chalk done? Free handed? Template?
Matt, I see a great career for you in boat lettering… 😉
I am wondering if that was an option from Chris Craft when new? This will give the judges something to stew about!
See you in Tavares!
That green battery has got to go. It’s way out of place. At least paint it black with Duplicolor plastic paint? Then paint three red 6 V battery caps made out of wood glued in place of those plastic caps? Just my 2 cents.
Agree 100 percent. Not even sure if it’s still charged.
