Redville – The Red In Reedville.
This past weekend, while getting ready for the big Show. I decided to throw a couple coats of paint on the railway. Of course I cant do anything without deep thought. Especially when it comes to design and color. I decided to go bold, and make it all Red. With Black and White as part of the color palette. I know using color palette is way over kill of a term for the Railway. But, it’s my curse.
The railway has been always either just raw wood, or red, silver metal, with some white. But I wanted it to feel older if that is possible. And painted all the trim, even added trim, RED to match the rest of the buildings. Fences will be red or black, and some trim, thats metal on the newer building…1970’s will remain white.
Have I painted the charm away? Yes. But its a fine line of charm and rot. I don’t want the Railway to pop out. So all red and Black allows it to remain in the background.. If that is possible. Lots of care has been taken to keep it all rough, just kept up looking.
Isn’t there a Clint Eastwood movie where he had the entire town painted red? That’s a lot of red. Then again your marine railway, your color palate.
High plains drifter.. HA, yes, thats another joke I hear around town. I love that its causing conversation. Part of the fun of color
yeah right if you dont want something to pop out at you paint it red. why don you paint nissan on your shed you prefer them over johnson sea horse even tho you try to pass them off as johnsons with decals and paint
Nothing quite like red.
Looks great, but I don’t believe you did all that in a week in between zoom meetings!
YUP. BTW, Eastowood painted Lago Red cause it was his version of HELL. Where as this is my version of heaven. Note, I kept the silver, black and some white. And yes, oddly the red does seem to blend in. Maybe because its always been that way. See all red… and a little white.
Looking good. How about changing the two windows above and to the left of the ladders to match the other ones?
I like it all, what’s with the stack of tires with stuff sticking out the top? Good plan to keep on working toward having the show.

Looks great. That is a lot of painting.
Something tells me you didn’t use a brush though…
… yeah, painting the ol’ fashion way — using a brush!
Yes – – The full moon last weekend was a strong one.
Yes used a brush. Insane but the only way.
Matt, Curious what the white building to the left is in the top picture? There is a sign on it, but cant make it out.
Thats the REEDVILLE MARKET, a very snazzy resturant.
You’re a one man working Bee! Looks fantastic!
