Some Fun With A Rocket! 1954 Chris – Craft 17′ and 1′ Runabout.
Yesterday we popped up to Lake Hopatcong to deliver Pumpkin back to Katzs for more break in fun. And man oh man Tommy did some breaking in. While there we decided to put a Woody Boat into the lake for the first Woody run of the season on the Lake.

This was also Seths First ride on the lake. Trust me, he was just as excited as me.. OK, maybe a little less. It is his boat after all.
The perfect boat was one of the Rockets they have in stock. Click here if you want to buy it. This little runabout is a fantastic riding boat that handles beautifully. With a zippy KBL, it also had a wonderful little rumble. While in the office, Seth pointed out a wonderful little model of this specific Rocket called Reneeshins Too. The model was done by the famous model makers and fellow Woody Boaters John Into and Nancy Price of Into Things So we grabbed some pics and matching pics of the real boat. Amazing work.
Amazing work, by some amazing folks. Thanks Seth, John and Nancy for making a fun story.
Something’s missing. How about one of Troy’s models in Seth’s model?
A 1′ runabout would go perfectly with your 11″ crab skiff!
I am in Charleston SC this morning. There is NO SNOW here! Not even a melting pile in the corner of the parking lots. Better yet, the trees all have leaves on them. Amazing.
In Hessel currently. Snow forecast. And Tuesday’s low keeps getting revised downward — it’s to be 15!
But you guys up North have such strength of character!
Next weekend is the Apalachicola boat show where the trees have leaves and there is no remaining ( if there ever was) snow in the parking lots. Will Woody Boater be there for some boats and oysters ???
Getting closer ! Eighth coat of varnish goes on today.
Speaking of Katz, how about a status report on rebuilding efforts? Thx.
Some of you are already having fun, getting your boat wet, to inform you all, our lake is still frozen. The only thing good about it is that it gives me more time to get the rest of the boats done. Ha. Our three months of summer are long and HOT!
Kayaks are out, splash the cruiser next week and then pull Panther out for some woody fun starting in May.
I think we can all agree on one thing. The Hopatcong camera sure loves Matt.
We have a different kind of “snow” here, todays pollen count, 4034, daily is usually 256 or so. ah ah ah choo, don’t bother trying to varnish unless you’re looking for non skid surface, lol.
Off topic, Something for Texx. Since he seems drawn to pontoon boats he’ll catch less grief on this Steam Powered Woody Pontoon Boat I saw as a Facebook post from Wooden Boat
I was at Pontoons-R-Us on the weekend shopping for a pontoon boat, but didn’t see any as cool as that one Rick.
Imagine having a built-in wood stove on a boat? Simply wonderful… (and environmentally friendly too)
Here’s one of the models I was thinking about buying though.
Or maybe this model – I can’t decide.
This one might be more your speed! Lol
