Tahoe Is In The Details
The lettering and leaf is so perfect it makes my head hurt. I am not talking flawless in the new AI world. I am talking it looks hand done, the leaf spin is understated and perect. The color.
Again, thanks to Steve Natale for sharing Tahoe with us all. Today we have details. Details are the absolute most rewarding part of our little universe, and no place does it better than out at Lake Tahoe, add to that spectacular light, and crisp air, and all the details come out. It’s in the details that legends are made, and not only are they that extra 10% it takes to reach nirvana, but the judges also need to know all these details. Because on Lake Tahoe, one little fleck of a detail could be the difference of a winner or, well, this isnt a little league soccer game here. This is a VERY competitive show. And thats all part of the extreme fun.

Doesn’t everybody line up the screws? Even all of the switch plates and outlet covers in my house have the screws lined up. Do I have a problem?
I line up the screw heads I I line up the screw heads as well… boats, electrical wall plates, anything I work on the screws all line up. Maybe we can start a sub club. “Alignment of screw heads of America”
Beautiful pics of Tahoe. Just got back from the Les Cheneaux show. It is so well run, it never disappoints. Perfect weather. John Allen brought Sister Syn again (1927 35 ft Dodge racer) but also brought Lotus (1949 39 ft Dodge racer) which he fired up a few times during the show. A great variety of around 129 boats there this year.
Speaking of screws, the greavette step pad picture shows slotted screws. Do not know model or year to which it is affixed, but in my limited knowledge Greavette used Robertson (square head) screws.
If so, the boat needs at least a .25 point deduction per screw (joke).

I think you are correct about the square drive screws. Every Greavette I’ve ever seen, including our own, has used them almost exclusively. Actually, most classic Canadian boats use them.
They are a vast improvement over slotted, and much better than phillips. The only trade in the US that uses them are electricians. To find a square drive screwdriver, you visit the electrical department at the hardware store.
A Canadian invention, I believe.
