The New Brass Bell, 40 Years? Dang!
The new Brass Bell is here, the new Brass Bell is here! Yesterday while the world was drooling on Dippys, I was in my special place reading my new Chris – Craft Antique Boat Clubs, Brass Bell. I also noticed this cool new graphic, 40 years!
Dang, I feel old. 1973 was not that far off. To think that one day Woody boater could be 40 is insane. By then it will be a chip implanted in your brain so that Alex and my thoughts just enter your brain. Sorry in advance. Texx is OK, I wouldn’t mind his thoughts. The normal ones, god only knows what else is in there. What compels a guy to ride 3 days on a Harley to go race a boat? Wait, I like that part too. Alex, we will have to give you some shock treatment thing. Nurse Ratchet Socket is headed your way. OK, is anyone following this? Didn’t think so, I just kinda left the planet there and don’t want to re write this. So, where was I? Oh ya, the brass bell is here. Best issue to date, the content is getting back to its original groove. Our hats are off to Bill Baldwin and the gang for getting the issues out on time and full of great stuff. Also a big thanks to the new refined design. Its easier to read, and the special drool proof paper is great. We will report on the 40 year thing once we get more info. Now if you will excuse me, they have put a soothing record on here at HQ and they are handing out pills. I like pills. They make me smile! And buy boats!
nice , i am clicking on the cover and the pages dont turn, dam. WB needs more improvements. your just teasing the rest of us
Just keep trying, its working here! you want a pill to?
Why did you get your copy before me. Maybe a little favoritism for the “Center of the Wooden Boat Universe”. It must be nice!
it is… I get to know all the latest breaking info from the 1940’s
Up your dosage, everythig will be alright. I did not know that varnish came in pill form?
It seems odd that my copy shows up weeks late if ever, and yet the invoices have no problem getting to me on time. They must think I am in Canada or something.
Something is wrong with the USPS – my most recent ACBS Rudder issue came to me in Canada post-marked from Paris, France. One Bell issue was very late because it was mailed via Malmo, Sweden. That is inexplicable and compeltely irrational. Is it any wonder the USPS is practically speaking, bankrupt?
While I don’t dissagree with you on the reliability of the postal system, I think I discovered simpler yet more embarassing explanation.
On the plus side, the club now has an extra $50 to spend on preparing the next issue.
Usually the problem is the organist, not the organ.
You can try to tell your wife that, or you can ask your doctor about Viagra.
Matt. To quote you
“I think I discovered simpler yet more embarassing explanation.”
Viagra?
Not yet! I am still younger than the Brass Bell. In fact I just turned 29 again about a month ago.
The U.S. Postal Service is the most efficient in the world. The proof given is a study by economists Chong, La Porta, Lopez-de-Silanes, and Shleifer from 2012.
Inexplicable efficiency is caused by electronic competitive factors.
You can read the digital version of the latest Brass Bell by going to the link on the Boat Buzz Forum. Take USPS out of the formula, it’s less stressful that way.
Much cheaper to produce as well!
members want the hard copy – they have been decisive in conveyong that preference, and they own the club so they’ll continue to receive it.
ANOTHER great issue no matter when or how its delivered
thanks Doug, that is the main thing, isn’t it?
Forget all this USPS, Viagara, and Bell stuff. The real issue is this..
Why is Chief the only one not wearing a Lancaster hat? Too chickensh_t to put one on him Matt?
Oops. I now see the guy next to Chief is not wearing one either.
Hypotheses: you ran out of e-hats?
Looking forward to the new issue and anxious to see the new format. I certainly can’t say enough about what a great job Bill Bassler did to bring it up to the past standard and appreciate Bill Baldwin and the rest of the team using that model and taking it forward. Having been a newsletter editor, publisher, author, mailing expeditor, stapler, etc for 6 yrs (the second time around), I’m well aware of the effort and I didn’t have advertisers to contend with.
Since we’re talking movies here with the above Cuckoos Nest (I do not remember the hats?) I can say with concrete conviction that the following movie MUST be avoided at all costs……
Thanks Brian, I just spewed my pie! That’s quite a visual!
…
Looks like he’s about to take a dippy.
Thanks Matt for the post!

Life of PIE 40 years later…
YYYAAAYYYYY!!!! Another fantastic issue I’m never going to see because they can’t make it to Canada.
You should get yourself a US PO box to have them not mailed to. You still won’t get read them, but it will save you $15 a year on your membership.
