Too Many Boats, Not Enough Room… Or?

,

I found these in the storage shed, cleaned them up and oiled them.

My name is Matt and I have a problem. I have Boat issues, and can’t say no to a cool boat that needs help. In fact, I don’t know how to say no at all. The good news is at work I have people. Some know people, I have No people. But at HQ, and well in normal life, not that owning an old boat yard is normal, or collecting boats is normal. Okay I am not normal. Anyway, this past week, in my little moments of being at the railway I have tried to make tasteful room for the little boats.

There are beasts.

The lil hydro weighs nothing

WEFETCHEM is in for her spring cleaning. I had her sold and the guy changed his mind. So if you want it.. Its getting all dolled up

Things are a little crammed in here

I moved BOTTOMS UP over to the Bar area.

This works

Maybe hanging the hydro will get it out of the way

egh, not sure. The coolest part of the hydro is the checkered deck and steering. I may flip it. And take the engine off.

This shed is going to be cleaned out and used to store some boats. The plan??? is these would be the trailer small boats and install a ramp here to use.

The biggest issue is that I DO NOT WANT one of those collections that is all crammed into a building. The entire space is the collection, it is the painting. Each item is a part of that painting, and editing is now part of that process. OR? with some creativity, maybe adds to it. I am not sure yet.  It’s been cold here, 50-60 and windy, so the boats are not in the water yet, which helps in a way.

And here is a gratuitous puppy image of Poppy smiling. She wakes me up at 4AM.. Wants a treat. I am not sure what this has to do with anything, but gratuitous images seem to help in this passion. I can’t show new babes, there is a creepy factor in that. So it’s cute dogs.

Carry on Matt. Most of us in WoodyBoater world share the same crazy gene. That old chain fall is a thing of beauty. Make side blocks for the hydro and hang it at a 45 degrees angle. I hope to visit the railway some day!

I feel your pain Matt, albeit in a new pair of waders while the marina is still underwater, but always looking to save more boats and stuff………but where to put it all.
It became crystal clear however, that during this flood, Patti is ready to “slit my throat and throw me out of a moving car” or something like that.
I did hear “no more building a new pole barn for your “stuff” until I get a new kitchen”. Quote, unquote.
It fell on deaf ears that a new pole barn costs less than a new kitchen. Only because a new kitchen for us involves a large addition…….😂.
So, instead of new space for toys, I’ll be designing a new addition to house a new kitchen. Sigh……….😢

My advise is to build the kitchen…
Matt, I feel your pain. I am in the same situation with boats and the wife has a strict “no more boats” policy in effect. The real issue for me is that I don’t have time to keep everything maintained properly and most everything needs some love to make it right, or even usable. I have an endless list of unfinished projects. But I am happy…

I like Greg’s idea about hanging the hydro inverted on an angle. And like him, I hope to some day visit your “living museum of boating & Reedville”.

I also would love to visit the headquarters. I got close one time a couple years ago, when we were traveling with to the outer. We attempted to drive up to the headquarters, but it was too long of a round trip to make in one day.
Also the timing was bad because that was down in Mount Dora, for the big show at the same time so we would not have been able to see him if we even did make it there.
So, I have regretted it ever since. If you got a chance, do it. Make it happen.

Agree with Greg and Kelly. The hydro should be suspended at a 45 deg. angle. Oh, and a note from the hydro racer community….those guys prefer “turn over”, as in “can you come over Saturday and help me turn the boat over”? “Flip is reserved for a different thing to do with the boat.

A great photo, to be sure, but one that makes me sad. Sad because of my age, distance, and change of ownership, I will never see the Molly-O again, let alone ride in her. I first rode on Molly-O in the 1940s, so I have many fond memories to lean on.

Matt, can you host a boat show at your place? We can all register and come down to hang out together!

I did find a “cure” for the buying boats to save them disease, but it’s quite a bitter pill to take! The treatment for the disease never ends and like other addictions, it is terribly difficult to avoid falling back into this disease. Thanks for the photo of Poppy!

the first step to ”recovery” is admitting you have a problem. i admitted it but it didn’t work, 8. hang the hydro vertical.
