Top Notch Entries Take Their Places For The 48th Tahoe Concours d’ Elegance

,

Steve Harvey should be driving this around

A huge thanks to Mr Steve Lapkin and his magic eye. We have a pre report from Tahoe. We also have a report coming in from Steve Natale, but its clogged up the internet somewhere near New Mexico. Slowly downloading through Kansas. I blame supply management issues in the gigabyte universe. You just cant find good megabytes anymore. There will be a shoot out at some point. So get ready.

Oh boy!

Hold on.. West Virginia just pinged me. The megabytes got all confused after meeting there family the kilobytes. Turns out those crazy kilobytes keep marring each other and there is the problem. In bred Kilobytes. Oh yea! Tammy Sue Kilobyte, Martin Jr, Martin Jr Jr, they just call him Jr Jr, Tammy Sues triplets, A Sue, B Sue and C Sue. The sue sisters. It gets all very mushed up. And thank got Mr Magic y=eye Lapkins stuff made it though un molested in West Virginia. Are you still reading this crap? For gods sake, ships going down on lake Tahoe!!!!! Take it away Mr Lapkin. Oh and I made up the captions. So? Apologies ahead of time. Clearly I am on something this morning.

The Greens showed up. Is that Marty?

Every marque is present and raring to go at Obexer’s Boat Company for the 48th Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation’s Concours d’ Elegance. Over half the field consists of Chris-Craft vintages and models. The oldest entry, Redskin, is a 1912 20-foot Canadian Racing Launch. Her engine, as well, is a very rare Wisconsin 4-cylinder art piece. Redskin was formerly owned by Steve Lapkin who donated it to the Tahoe Maritime Museum who then placed the vessel for sale at auction. Her slip assignment is center-stage in the main gantry at Obexers.

Hang in there, we will get to some more images

Look, little beach houses like in the South of France! Cool!

And then the judge will say, the screw right there doesn’t have enough threads. That one is okay, but this one is gonna cost you. Also see that little scar on the screw head of number 5 over there. Ya! Not good.

Tahoe Tinsel Tiki Time

Oh hell ya California Blonds

YIKES! The Beast is uncovered.

And then Bob over there said, the thread count of screw Number 2,37 was off. And I said. That cant be right. Bob I have a spread sheet that says the thread on that screw is less because its on the port side of the grain on that support, and the torque will split the wood if its installed wrong. And so another conversation is overhead on the Lake Tahoe docks

We are going to slowly step back now..

WAY BACK

I wonder if that hard top has a duffle bag in it?

Wonderful setting

Just another shot of men gawking at blonds.

Classic Lapkin Shadow art

Are they all discusing her shoe choice for the day? Marge, your shoes are not fitting right. Bill, I like these shoes. Marge I am telling you flip flops, they are not flip flops Bill. And so it goes

Were gonna step back again

That hard top is sick cool

OH! Come to poppa!

Ready to rumble.

Big Boy is always a crowd favorite

Oh yea

Meanwhile back at the Jiffy Johns

And there ya have it, a pre show teaser from Mr Lapkin. The weekend ahead should prove to be colorfully and competitively brilliant.

Great photos. Really defines the size and quality of the show. Getting all those boats docked must have been a nightmare. That white and blue XK22 shown in several shots sure looks like the one that was restored and owned by one of our Michigan gang. Could it have moved out west?
Thanks Steve and Matt for the pre report. Looking forward to more.

Yes the XK22 now lives on Tahoe at Sierra Boat. John sold it to me in 2020 and I couldn’t be happier.

Since selling Miss Universe several years ago on Bring-A-Trailer, the new owner and I have become great friends. He is a very young Woody Boater!
After having a oil cooler failure on the BPM, he decided to go all in with the Allison! Sent me a note yesterday, 62 mph @2400 rpm on the first run.

That Sierra Nevada air and sunshine is so damn beautiful and sweet I can’t imagine breathing that wonderfully dry air without this crushing humidity we have here. Wonderful coverage and photos make it that much more beautiful 😻

they always hold this the week after my wife has to be back at school. Just spent two weeks up there in Tahoe a mile from Obexer’s at the family cabin. I have been to the Obexer’s show once and when it was at Sierra Boat Works once.they are absolutely beautiful Boats. Thunderbird is always there as well. If you have never seen it in person. its worth the trip just for it. It is magnificent. next we hope to be there if the calendar cooperates.
