Makes a cool prop, or cooler for sodas, or god forbid, a minnow pail! GASP! This can be found on ebay today.
Sometimes we forget that our classic boats are actually used for other things than objects of art. There is something very Zen when out on a classic boat. Fellow Woody boater David Konick as we all know by now, knows how to have some kinda fun out there. But there is cool stuff out there that brings the art side of fishing to life as well. We have some fun post cards and vintage fishing pails to show today. Many of the fishing pails are on ebay today. just search Minnow pail and have at it. The cool part of all this is that fish don’t care if your pail is period to your boat, but you sure do.

Speaking of todays subject, I pull into a convenient store in a south Detroit suburb for diesel on the way back to north Ga. from Muskoka and the “owner” says “u vant de worms for your fishing boat?”
“No, but I would like a decent squeegee with window cleaner in it”.
Minnow buckets make great patio lanterns too!
My wife and I really go for this sort of thing, and we have a nice still-life of vintage minnow pails, tin wickerwork picnic baskets, and Skotch Koolers (plaid) in my son’s North-Woods-themed bedroom. There are also Chris-Craft tin signs, postcards, and B/W CC photos, cushions, oars, a life ring, and an always-up Christmas pine with lure lights, hunting/fishing/Woody Boater ornaments on it!
For DENBY (my new ’54 22′ CC Sea Skiff just like Konick’s but without any ‘biggest balls’ stories) I’ve collected an Old Pal minnow bucket (tin) with awesome graphics, a Lowrance “Little Green Box” fishfinder, another Skotch Kooler, and an amazing fully-retro-stocked metal tackle box I bought complete at a consignment shop on Harsen’s Island, MI. It smells like fish, old boats, and good times!
Old boats and old accessories belong together! Here’s another neat example: A Lyman Islander fully stocked with COOL at a new boat show back in the day!
