Walking The Kingdom Of Prussia

Sanssouci in Potsdam
Note to self, boat shoes are not the best walking shoes. And here in Germany, walking is a thing, especially in the summer. That and white asparagus. Oh, like our Pumpkin Spice crap once a year. White asparagus is a one month thing. But I digress, and today we, you get a walking tour of The Palace of Frederick the Great and the amazing gardens of Sans Souci, which means Care Free, not to be confused with Car Free days which I love back home. But I think it means the same thing. In a deep metaphorical way. Or Sans Suzy, which means without Suzy, which was not true. So, anyway I will let the pics tell the story, I didn’t send myself captions so I get to make them up. Okay that made sense in my head.

Not just one Suzy, but two Suzys

Amazing place BTW

Amazing Gardens

There are several Palaces here, each one for a different season. This one is the summer palace.

Some amazing landscape design, where you stroll, okay, walk, HIKE the gardens.

But you are entertained along the way with some formal reminders that this is a designed park

Mercury checking his shoes.

Wonderful walks through canals of gardens

And then another Palace. Good lord

Busted. On his phone. I didnt catch it in time, but he knew.

Apollo standing in the center of the park. And yes, his wiener is welded on.

The statues are amazing

For Troy

This is one of a bunch of them on a wall.

Holding lights

There is a Chinese garden as well, with gilded statues.

If you ever wondered where that fork in the road is. Its right here, or left here. Or just stand in the middle and take a photo.

And yes, lots of wieners. The end!

Another story that leaves me speechless. My wife would love it!
I thought you were in Germany. San Souci is on Hansens Island.
Big Party in Algonac on June 23 – 25!
Thanks for thinking of me!!!
Have a great trip!!!!!!!
Silly me, I thought this forum was about classic wooden boats often depicted in a humorous manner. I haven’t seen a boat story in days. Well for similar readers (and for Matt’s withdrawal syndrome) here’s a current photo of Global HQ.
OK – Sausage tomorrow but wieners today.
Is that Lapkin with the flute on his lap??
Kenny – I ‘missed the boat’ or ‘didn’t get the memo’ or (?) – MATT & the Boatress, et al, didn’t include me on this itinerary…unfortunately. I DID visit Berlin, in 2003, with RIVA CLUB. The flautist is NOT Steve Lapkin. Tks, SL.
Where’s mr b
I think that I will go to Sans Souci today and take some pictures of the BOATS going by on the South Channel.
Great photos Matt! Enjoy your time there.
That Mercury doesn’t look anything like the Mercurys I see on the back of classic outboards!
