What a great walk down memory lane. No I was not there, but it all looks so familiar.

Of course for some of us the ’80’s were much like the ’60’s: If you remember them you weren’t really there.

Great story and photos of the “old school” Michigan gang having a good time. I just wish I would have been part of that era. I also wish I knew what happened to those boats. Thank you Mike and Matt for sharing the fun!

Seeing Flash brings back good memories. Everytime it went past my parents house my mom would say “There goes Flash” and I would quickly to to the window to watch it go by.

Those are some great pictures. I remember seeing some of those boats at Hessel in the 80s. To me the 80s don’t seem that long ago.

Having lived along rivers in 3 different states, seeing the water rise many times, my mind struggles with how close to water level the homes pictured sit.

Awesome pictures. The 80’s were an awesome decade. So what boat has the MC 00001 HW number? I would sure like to know more about the boat and owner of this and the other low numbered boats and owners since my CC is MC 00042 HW. Also, her name tag appears to be Henkel. Relation of the Peter Henkel family I assume?

Brock, My directories go back to 77 but unfortunately not all boaters put their put their hull numbers in the book. I’ve enjoyed looking up particular boats over the years but it’s usually by name.

Seems like there were a lot more “characters ” back then and they turned a show into a party. Looking at the old Street Rod and Hot Rod magazine show coverage then compared to now, I’d love to have been at those shows!

I’m thinking “Pocahontas” is the IX, as there is a Mistele label on the cowl ahead of the motors… 🙂

It would be an amazing thing to find an ’80’s ACBS directory and track down each boat and its history.

Would it be possible for me to buy Miss America IX, Flash, or the River at 1980 prices? Could you make that happen, Matt?

(Also, how crazy that at some point someone renamed Miss America IX?)
