Well That Escalated Quickly

Headed to HQ – Gloomy sky

Yesterday I was going to finish up Sweet Pea and go boating with the Boatress, thats her #1 Fave boat, and the families as well I will add. But it’s been a cray cray summer with heat and work, so I am kinda back to weekends to make stuff happen in big chunks.

The commute takes 2 minutes

GIRGLE GIRGLE

Doors open, lights on, music turned up!

I decided to make it a car free day and boat to the Railway and kinda just chill and finish up some little rot under the door on Sweet Pea. FiretRUCK me! WTH? What started out as a little picking, soon became a day filled with rot, more rot and did I say Rot.

This is an ongoing area. As you can see the sides of the cabin also need stripping, and maybe even replacing. 50 years of sanding and painting. Same with the deck

Well, I might as well remove that little area all together under the door

UGH..

Now, I know this game. Before you know it you have the entire boat apart. Knowing when to stop is the game. But mush is mush, and at some point its actually easier to replace a large section than make little patches. SO, as the sun came out, so did the door and more.

OH and the door had rot

Cleaned out the rot, and wested in some strips of matching wood, I like scraps

Set in place, today they get sanded and and painted. Like magic it will be gone. I hope

Now one may think I had a rotten day… BUT NOOOOOO, it was heaven. Other than laying down and on my knees which kinda is rough on these old flabby legs. But I powered through on a low 80’s day no humidity. Good music and the joy of helping rot find a new home in the fire pit!

The good news is today is supposed to be like yesterday. Gloomy then nice. So gotta go!

That is somewhat depressing and a lot of work. However, being able to go to work with a boat ride and spend the day at the railway I think offsets the pain!

After the crazy heat and smoke of earlier this month, yesterday was beyond picture perfect for late July here. Looks like you made great progress on Sweet Pea yesterday. Well done.

Just to hear the water gently lapping on Sweet Pea’s hull, would have a calming affect on me. What a wonderful place you have to work and play!
