Woody Boater On CBS THIS Sunday! I Know I Know, But This Time They Say It Will Be On.

Tune in CBS this Sunday at 9 AM Eastern time
A couple weeks ago we blasted out that Woody Boater and others in the classic boating culture would be featured on a small segment on CBS Sunday Morning. We got bumped. For a nature photographer. That’s OK, we got bumped a ways back for a story on how to buy a mattress. Which actually did help me. But this time they said about a 90% chance, and this time there is more chatter, so we are feeling more confident. Maybe its a secret ploy to jest get more viewers. But look, Its on the CBS website. RIGHT HERE Rally, I am not delusional, at least about this I ‘m not. My love for varnish and mahogany sure is, maybe I am and just dont know it. Anyway, this weekend Texx and Dane are in…on.. around Gull Lake and will be reporting in. So Tune in, and tune into CBS this Sunday Morning starting at 9AM. I am not sure what time the segemnt comes on.
I wonder if anyone else saw a segment that Andy Rooney did on CBS 60 Minutes about woodies on his “home lake” Lake George. He’s from Albany, NY and apparently spent time up there and showed several Hackers and other triples in action on the lake. He died in 2013 but the segment probably aired no more than 5 years before that. “I’ve learned that life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.”
― Andy Rooney
He was my neighbor across the street from us when we lived in Rowayton Conn. never even said hi! I loved it that way.
I have a copy of the Andy Rooney Hacker segment. It was well done.
Andy Rooney had a 1937 25′ Gar Wood. I think it is still in the family.
Whatever he was like as a person he was a wonderful writer. I remember in an Writing class in College we read a wonderful essay he wrote concerning human nature and how hard it was for us to change. His example was coming upon a red traffic light in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night and contemplating running the light. It was a terrific story!
I hope the piece on Sunday Morning is as memorable as Rooney’s essay was!
Hay Matt. I think you got 10 seconds more than me!!! Lol
Matt, just watched the wooden boat segment on Sunday Morning and basked in the reflected glow of your celebrity – I know that guy! – my grandson was impressed. And I was, too, with the beautiful boats and your polished performance. Good show!
