Woody Wallpaper. My Head Is Going To Explode.

A roll of woodyness

Today on ebay, we have a very special treat. Wallpaper. Thats right a wonderful roll of Wallpaper with woody boats on it. The only mind bending issue is that its only one roll, 60 inches by 18 inches. So, just a small accent panel. And the edges are not all that great, so its a bit of a crap shoot. BUT! Each one of the boats on this roll is pure glorious art. A lost art I might add.

AHHHHHHH!

This was before all the computer vector file crap. These were hand drawn to be used on wall paper. And that is art that is no longer needed. Yes, even though the “artist” was just a person cranking out stuff, they were not considered true artists. But they were and should be seen that way. Especially now when the skills needed are no longer taught, or sadly needed.

Slick

One could say, and I will, they are Impressionistic in nature. They create a feeling rather than obsessed with small details. The artist allows you to fill in the rest of it all with your imagination.

Are they returning?

The only thing that is racking my pea brain is what to use it for? Bathroom detail? On Sweet Pea? A Panel of art? Or just a roll of it on a shelf. UGH.

I will add one more small detail that is also frustrating.  Putting this wallpaper up is tricky, its more of a PAPER, and you need to use old wallpaper glue, and it can be tricky. I have used this type of wallpaper before, and as cool as it is, there is a reason new wallpaper is on a better paper.

The pattern

If you want to learn more about Vintage Wallpaper, google has a bazillion places to learn. AND IF YOU WANT TO BUY THIS ROLL, HERE IT IS ON EBAY!

OK I get that it is an impressionist thing, but what is with these three slalom skiers off at a 90 degree angle from the boat?

    LOVE the cruiser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is pretty awesome! Maybe cut it into sections, laminate them and use them as placemats?

There is a bunch of companies out there that can take this piece and make as many rolls as you wish. I saw it on one of those fixer upper shows. Not to bad of price $$

I like both Rick & Steve’s ideas! As Tommy said, there are companies that can copy this & print more. Or print the design on fabric. Spoonflower.com is the one I know of.

Scan it, vector it, and have it reproduced. Only 4 elements in that step & repeat.

Better yet, paint your own boats, and make a new step & repeat.

Can anyone identify the area of the country its trying to represent? The one picture with the cruiser looks like phillidelphia in the background. Until you see the gigantic horse on the left.
