First, yes I had to google how to spell conundrum. The other day fellow Woody Boater Paul Harrison sent me a simple email. “Here ya go” with this link. must go-1965 Chris Craft 38 ft Constellation – $600 I went to it and thought, dam! $600 bucks is what one would spend driving there to look at this old trusty craft. They say, you make your money back on a boat when you buy it, not selling it. So I started looking at the pictures. The owner is being straight forward the best he can. It is what it is. A major restoration project for a low low price. And then I recalled seeing another cruiser that needs restoration on eBay. Link Here. But it was about a thousand more.

A real fixer upper. Easier to park I suppose.

I wonder what could be making one more than the other?  Yes there are subtle differences. Both need wood work, engines… with one small difference. Like about 39 feet and several tons! What the hell, is going on here? Ya can get the real thing for a smaller amount of money than the model of it. BOTH A TRAIN WRECK I MIGHT ADD. Ya want a nicer model. Well, that’s another 1K HERE.

Oh ya, but be prepared to pay the big buck for this one.

I see this all the time in the vintage outboard world. Ya can get a vintage outboard motor cheaper than those little battery toy ones? Dear god man. You can live on the one in Vancuver. Try sleeping on the little model and you will crush it. That’s not a good deal? Try and varnish the little model. What a waste of a can of varnish, you will have about 99& of the can left. Useless old varnish. Where as the larger real one will use every drop of that can…. I just don’t get it?

    I love the header Matt……of course I own a 22′ Sportsman so thats normal…….I start to get all emotional though when you see a cruiser in need of love…just wish someone had the mulla to pick it up and do it right. We have that going on at the Algonac factory site by someone with a big pocket book……the planks for the hull are incredible and to imagine when they were actually built…..glad we are on to brighter subjects……the Northeast still needs lots of help though….don’t forget them in your prayers and your donations if you can’t go out there to offer help. 20 weeks until Alex and I launch in Northern Michigan. Yeah

    Good story about a legendary deadrise builder:
    Bronza Parks built large deck boats (buy boats) mostly in Maryland, but great Chesapeake bay boats…he was a true legend. He was shot and killed by a disgruntled customer that thought it took too long to build the boat Bronza had promised to build for him.
    A few years back at our Reedville (matt’s own) boat show I talked to a fellow who knew all the details of the shooting.
    Said Bronza got aced over not building a MODEL BOAT fast enough.

    My son has one of these models… A friend saw it at an antique store and bought it for him… I don’t know what he paid for it, I don’t want to know… But it is in realy nice shape.. has motors and servos for RC but no transmitter…

    That guy lives right by me. I seriously considered paying the $600. But then what? Then you have a $900 a month moorage and a boat that needs fixing.Where do you park it? It’s not a 17′ ski Boat, thats for sure!
