As promised yesterday we said we would introduce you to Miss Woody Boater Erika Simmons. Erika has been the General Manager of the famous Main Lake Market for a couple of years, and has worked there since it opened in 2006. Loves Lake Hopatcong and wood boats. She also loves it when you donate to Woody Boater.. Hey, ya didn’t think you would just be able to look at pictures today. This is a pledge drive!
This photo shoot was all set up for the big lake Hopatcong Calendar for 2016 But you don’t have to wait til then.
Erika even went out and found vintage style bathing suits for the shoot. Wow!

That is our ’69 Cavalier Ski Boat (#016 of 100 and actually sold and titled as 1968!
I thought so….The model had a checkered career…designed in ’68 as a Commander, sold in ’69 as a Cavalier and sold in 1970 as a Corsair. (See Essential Guide to C.C.) Color options…Red, red or red. Really great boat but very few seem to have lasted. I had the 1970 model and sold it last year to Denny Naylon in Ohio. There was one at the ACBS International show in Coeur d’ Alene last year but they had changed the engine, put a swim platform on it and made some other changes. Wish I had mine back
We were really trying to make the international show last year, since we live so close, but we had a 1 year old who at that time was not fond of the boat… I would really like to see another one in person! We are in the midst of a “usable restoration” so this winter I will finally strip all the hardware and get the paint/gel-coat restored back to all red on red on RED… Other than the tuck-and-roll vinyl interior, eggshell bottom paint and the horn our is all documented original (even down to the two digit Washington State registration numbers!).
Mine was all original but red fiberglass was faded except under the hardware where it had never been exposed to sun light. The horn never worked but could probably have been fixed. I always wanted to up grade the bowlight so it would hold a flag. The one at Coeur’ d’ Alene had done that. Interesting…It looked like mine had no right rear chock but later I found it under the rear seat. I guess the workers went to lunch when she came down the assembly line and just never installed it. I think the successsive owner is repainting or re gelcoating mine. I got some mail from a fellow in California who had repainted his and it looked pretty good.
