ALGONAC! The Fountain Of Youth For Your Old Lady
If you are considering going to the Algonac Show this year, registration is closing up in a couple weeks, so chop chop! And if you are not considering going to Algonac this year? WHHHHHAT? This is so much more than a show, event, etc. It’s like going home to Grandmas house for some warm apple pie made with her chubby little fingers all covered with flower. That warm squishy hug and warm smile. YA! thats Algonac. You boat NEEDS to go home and reunite with all her siblings.
I swear to god, Stinky was a different boat after she went a couple years ago, it was like she had visited the fountain of youth. So are ya going to sit there and let your sweet heart rot in the barn, or give her the baptism of that fresh Algonac water? Dang! I am even talking myself into it.

Oh that water

Stuff like this can happen, Arts house that was used on the original brochure cover

Its like a three day birthday party for your boat!
Okay thats my Pitch, here is the official one from Sir Greg! All spelled right!
“39th Annual “Where it all Began” Boat Show
The Michigan gang is once again throwing a classic boat party at the Algonac Harbour Club the weekend of June 21 st – 23 rd 2024. The three- day event is featuring GarWood as the marquee boat to celebrate this iconic racer and builder from just up the road in Marysville, Mi.
Friday will start the fun with a cruise up the beautiful turquoise waters of the St. Clair River for a delicious lunch in the pavilion of the St. Clair Municipal Marina. After returning to the Harbour Club the boaters will enjoy a Friday Evening Welcome Party at the Port O’ Call restaurant and mingle with old and new boating friends on the site of the original Chris-Craft factory where Gar Wood built his series of Miss America historic race boats.
Saturday will have all the beautiful watercraft on display from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. This is a judged show with awards in each boat class category plus several special awards including a GarWood Marquee award. There will also be tours of the Algonac Clay Township Maritime Museum and kid’s events. We will continue the tradition of free classic boat rides to show attendees, to wet their appetite for classic boating, and keep some of our captains busy for the afternoon.
We will fire up at 8:30 Sunday morning for our annual cruise to the Old Club on Harsens Island for a great brunch and guest speaker. Registration and additional details are on the Michigan Chapter website (michacbs.com). We have ordered sunny 80-degree weather for the entire weekend. It will be a good time that you don’t want to miss it, so come join us for the fun!”
Isn’t this where you did the cbs Sunday morning show
Thanks woodyboater
Yes! Here it is –
I can’t believe you missed a WB marketing opportunity wearing a non logo plain blue polo shirt. America wants to know how long you were in make-up for those shots, how many takes on your clip, and how much is on the cutting room floor. lol. Credit to the editor Gupta who do a great job knitting all this together. It was well done and if your clip was “off the cuff”, it was spot on. “These pretzels are making me thirsty”. inside joke, if you know, you know. And there was an MFine sighting.
Thank you Matt for helping out the shameless plugger with today’s story. I hope you have talked yourself into some livish real time reporting from the show!
The Michigan gang is looking forward to another great party weekend and hope a lot of WoodyBoaters will join the fun. Woohoo!
Mom’s Mink is looking forward to seeing the Michigan gang again. And getting back to her home area.
Kathy & I are looking forward to a weekend on the Blue water again.
Hope to see you there Matt!
Thanks Guys!
I am planning on checking Algonac out this year…but, still without a boat! I look forward to it! Michigan also has another boat show coming up, the Spring Lake Wooden and Classic Boat Show, on June 8, at Spring Lake, MI.
Dan,
I went a couple years back, without a boat. Still a great time! The Michigan gang works hard to make people feel welcome. The gorgeous color of the water alone is worth seeing.
Thanks Matt for sharing the CBS Sunday morning show, I haven’t looked at it in a long time but it gives me joy every time I look at it. Molly-O only got 3 seconds (09 to 12) but its a thrill every time, nun (that’s an oh my to Matts spelling) the less, she looks good.
Correction on the photo………its Arts Grandfathers house.
Great plug for a great event!
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make the 20 minute drive to attend this year. 🙁
I have a conflict that I can’t get out of.
The 37th annual Whitefish Chain Classic Boat Show is on June 15th, at Moonlite Bay on Cross Lake in Northern Minnesota. Side note: Moonlite Bay will be hosting 2 luncheons during the week of the International Show in September. I asked a good friend/artist to paint me a poster that I could use year after year for our show. With a tip of the hat to Matt’s ongoing spelling issues, my guy misspelled 2 words on my poster! All the better.
We still have a few spots open, so register today if you plan to bring your boat.
It was a great show when I was there two years ago, for the 100th anniversary of Chris Craft.
