Are You Ready For Fla? No, Really, Are You Ready. Really Ready?

, ,

Do you have the latest Florida attire? It's all the rage!

I know we have been having a loose sort of countdown to the 25th Anniversary Sunnyland ACBS Show on lake Dora. . But these things can creep up on you.. Just to be clear. It’s only 26 days away. That’s a tad over 3 weeks. now if you count today, it’s 25 days, then of course you, we are going to be leaving on Saturday the 17th to get there early. So its really 22 days of course we are leaving on the 22nd day, so its really like 21 days, or three weeks. Now, since you cant really work on your boat during the week. That eliminates all but the weekends. And that leaves 3 weekends left. or 6 Days away. Dear god. Are you ready? Will the Golden Pond Boats be ready.. Dear lord they started fully preserving them in September!  And they are the featured boats this  year at the show! The way i see it is all you have is 6 Days to get ready! Oh god. Start blowing on that varnish to get it dry.. Breath in.. Get in touch with your inner peace.. Just dream of someplace warm with water and classic boats.. NO WAIT, don’t do that. That is not going to help.. Dream of a nice cold winter with months to go.. Ahhh crap its 73 here in VA today.. What the hell? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I am so looking forward to the weekend. Last year , our first trip there, we stayed in a sleazy motel. Not my wife’s idea of a good time. Much better accommodation reserved this year. So impressed with the army of volunteers. What a well run show. the woodie station wagons was a nice touch too. AND THE BOATS !! I am ready to feast on that varnish again. Sure hope there is an alternative to “Sons of varnish”. I love my Sand, Varnish from last year. So little work done on my boat this winter, i need the inspiration injection…Is it time yet ???

I think I stayed in the same sleazy motel, the only good thing about it was my wife picked it ,not me.

Yah that dude is stylin! Sorry to say I cant make the show this year, too poor, too busy trying to earn a living. But if someone wants to fly me down or drive me down and put me up, well I think that will work, jsur saying…..

More than ready on my end, get there on the 15th. Same place reserved as last year. I really enjoyed the race boat regatta the weekend before the Sunnyland show and any one arriving early should really take the time to check that out.

This dude has been sniffing way too much varnish. What in tarnation is he looking at?

What would possess a man to wake up in the morning and decide that he wants to dress like a American tourist visiting the Eiffel Tower for the day?

Now, if he had sandals on with those socks, I would have gone with German tourist, but with running shoes – American.

Two things: 1) If I could find a ’38/39 CC 24′ Utility Cruiser like the one in the header I would probably have to have it – That is one of the forerunners of the 25 Red & White… 2) The guy looking at the outboard stuff looks suspiciously like a retired banker from our neck of the woods, dressed in typical Seattle spring-fall attire… 🙂

    ok, ok Calvin Klein.

It is a classic photo – skis, a hydroplane on end, engine, a cable coiled up, parts and stuff – it is like playing “Where’s Waldo”.

The only missing is the Ace bucket.

No kidding about the 24 . I love this things. There is a cool one at antique boat America in there wearhouse for sale. Bottom redone all of it. Very utilitarian. And now that you mention it. He loOks like my banker as well. Ha!

Thats the thing about being older. You can wear anything you like and this guys doing just that. Made me laugh.

That guys needs an intervention. Lose the socks and running shoes, get a pair of woody boater shoes and a sons of varnish T shirt and the ensemble will be much improved.

For most people the word reward includes many things that would not be classified as sexual favors. However, if that is what it takes, I am sure I can find a local service provider to meet you at your seedy motel room.

My wife wants to know how I would feel I someone took a picture of me and splashed it all over the web. I guess that is why I try to stay away from boat shows and listen to her when she says ‘Is that what you’r wearing’ My problem is that I always look like I just left the shop. Might work at a boat show if I add varnish cologne. I just would not enter to be judged. Find that gentleman and give him a complimentary shirt. Has he not suffered enough?

With all the comments on our Florida preferred wardrobe, I am now intimidated into dressing up for you guys in my Sear Sucker suit . . . with my Sons of Varnish t-shirt!

Note to self: If an ACBS president wants to try and fit in with the woody boater crowd, leave knee highs at home. Check.
