Behind The Scenes At The Big International Show. ZZZZZZZZZZ

,

Cue the crickets!

OK, it ain’t a barn find type day in Geneva lake, But it is the calm before the storm.. Mecum is setting up the tent and boats are coming in..

Mecum is setting up camp.. Get out your paddles..

The docks are on stand by, and today is gonna be busy, yesterday, not so much.. One of our 4 trusty reporters is already on the scene reporting in Mike Mayer, while Paul “reporting from the side of the road” made it safely..so he has nothing to report..even that is boring! Here are some exciting images from the set up.. WAKE UP! sorry…

They are starting to get some of the show boats in the water.. Check that plug! If you did'nt send pictures!

Is that a tumble weed I see.. No its just some guys behind

WAKE UP! thought I would throw in a great shot of one of the top Woody Boater Babes on the planet, Bridget Bardot..

Rob Selin getting one of his boats ready for the show.. these are some very cool, very simple boats that can be built from things at Home Depot..

Going to jump the bike out the back, parachute down in a sequined leather jacket and then ride into the show? Just seems that flying in and taking a cab is a might sedate for you.

Good morning, Texx. I will wait until you have everyone lined out and lined up before I arrive. Wouldn’t want to waste time with the boring stuff . . . be there tomorrow afternoon with Woody Babe of the Month in tow – or is that visa-versa? Well, OK, we are arriving Chicago via separate cattle cars about the same time. Hmmm. Race to the show seems to be in the offing? Now that’s not boring!

    So… Bridget likes little Johnsons…

Sorry! I couldn’t resist. It looks like iffy weather, I hope it changes and I’m looking forward to the reports. Is it my imagination or are there several boats in the lead shot that were at the Mecum/Warner event? I thought everything sold… 🙂

    Have a great time everyone!

Those little Johnson’s are very maneuverable in tight spaces. Especially when a skilled captain is at the helm. Or so I’ve been told.

You are correct. There are a number of boats that have re-surfaced from the Todd Warner collection at Geneva. Not sure what the issue was regarding their no reserve sale the previous fall.

Well… I have no comment on the Johnson thing, but all I can say is that if WoodyGal has a Ferrari rental car in Wisconsin, we are heading straight north for the racetrack in Elkhart Lake where the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) National Championship Runoffs are this weekend…

I still have my SCCA License… We could enter it as Team Woody!

Rick, my fantasy plan was to ride the old Harley-Davidson over to Lake Geneva this year, but the day job got in the way… had to fly instead #@**

Well, we really do have a Cousin Kenneth in Austin who sells exotic cars, has some Ferrairis, and is just about as crazy enough to trust us with one – and your resourcefulness never ceases to amaze me . . . I was looking forward to the ride!

Glad to hear Paul made it to the show unscathed, but I was looking forward to the next installment “from the side of the road”.

What the H! We can’t comment on the French? Is Phil from down under the only foreigner we can give grief to? Though at least we can give him grief in English. And he’s cool.

Me and the “Lillies” are headed up today. Right after “Nappy Time”…

Every try to launch a boat with the help of a 3 year old? I hope there’s help.

As I take a late stroll around the Abbey Docks, I can’t help but drool and rub my eyes in shock at the collection of boats. I mean “Barnwood” is floating a foot away from me. “Miss America IX” is majestically floating just yards away. I haven’t even made it to the Mecum Area yet to see whats over there. Tis a sight for sore eyes. The weather(temps) may not be the best, but the boats are GORGEOUS!

Hope to hear more about the 10 10 project boats Selin has designed for chapter kids projects….need to get more of the younger crowd involved. Sounds like the Chesapeake Group is going to use them to race too??

Why is it so odd for people to see boats from the Mecum / Warner auctions here is Geneva? I bought one, paid for it, paid a fee, and am looking to sell it for a profit. Unless the rest of the boat businesses are non-profits I don’t understand the mystery. For over 30 years I have been buying and reselling things, sometimes even making a buck. Last year at the Monterey Ca. auction I bought a 56 Thunderbird one day and sold it the next making a small gain. That’s right, I sold it at the SAME auction the next day!

Did anyone else buy a boat at the Warner auction and sell it for a profit yet or am I the only one? I have two witnesses who heard my wife ask me if I just bought a boat when the bidding had stopped for Soo Long. I guess it is okay to have day traders on Wall Street but not in the boat business? Even though it has been 10 months not a day. Has no one else ever flipped a boat for a profit 10 months later? Is everyone mystified by that too?

I might even sell it for a loss if I feel like it. That is the business I have lived in for over 30 years. I know there have been a few of you who have lost money on a boat, right?

    Scott,

Do you ever shut up? Every time you “try” to give an explanation of anything you sound guilty of something right off the bat! you should reallly be letting your PR firm handle this one…..
