The Boatress Goes Woody Boating In San Diego! Thanks Tom, Dave and Dave!
“Woodylishious” and Dave out on the water in San Diego!
On Friday we did a short story about a new program we will now be rolling out so that folks can connect with others out there in Woody Boaterville. Here’s how it all came together. We did the story, long time fellow Woody Boater Dave Anderson took the challenge by the boatress and made some calls. Within an hr or so, The Boatress and her side kick niece, “Woodylishious”, were all ready to go.

Meet Tom Wright, who helped out and gave us all hope that this new concept will work. What is also amazing is that Tom did not even know about Woody Boater and yet helped out! Dang! Tom brought his pal fellow ACBS member Dave Grundies who owns a 1957 Kettenburg Sweet 16 with original Johnson Sea Horse 35.

There is a wonderful ACBS group in the LA, San Diego area, and if you want to meet up with them this weekend coming up is your chance at the Annual Lake Aroowhead show. A fantastic location with a rich history of Woody Boatsness.
Here is some info on “Miss Spent Youth” in Toms own words!
“We have owned Miss Spent Youth since 1979, when we bought her from a retired fireman in Mission Bay. She is a 1958 Century Coronado and was originally powered by a 327 ci Gray with 225 hp.
We repowered her in 1998 with a balanced and blueprinted 350 Chevy rated about 280hp (ding for judging points but great as a user-friendly solution. She’ll do about 50 when the bay is lake-calm but that’s pretty rare. Today was a beautiful day and we took good advantage showing Suzy and Angie around the bay.”
This is an older shot we had on file.. How cool is that? Not only were we able to set up a boat ride, but on the exact boat we used! A Coronado in front of the Coronado.
Also Tom added… “We had a great time with the girls and closed out with a couple of Mai Tais at the club. Glad to have met the Boatress and Angie!
Suzy and Angie! Looking out over the Bay! They look happy.. The boatress said they had an amazing time, lots of fun and saw some amazing things. It was a wonderful way to see the area, and a classic boat ride with great folks!

Nice boat… A very successful design for Century. This is the second Generation of the Coronado… 57-58. 466 units were built the two years. 226 in 1958… Around 60% had the distinctive landau top… Many have survived to this day… Personal note: Don’t like the modern throttle… Much prefer factory hand throttle… not so much prefer but still prefer factory foot … As far as the engine goes when the boat is put together you don’t see it so I don’t care.

Great concept…we’ve used the ACBS directory when travelling to ask about lakes…it woodn’t seem so intrusive this way…although the people we spoke with were always helpful.
