Have Christopher Columbus Smith Haunt You. In A Good Way.

OH, no another house on Woodyboater!
Yesterday my sisters house and today Another Smith family home. Different Smith, the Chris Smith Smith. And to confuse things, my brother is also Chris Smith. So there is that. But today we are talking about the Smith’s of Algonac Michigan, okay, one of the Smith’s houses. Not sure which one, but I am sure if the walls could talk, you would find out some tid bits. The real history. Not the varnished over version we all live in now. You think we have arguments over Reed and Prince vs Philips? This is real family stuff. Like whats for dinner.. AHHHH, not that again.

Are the floors varnished?
Or did you hear that there is a divorce moving in down the street. She is quite the dame. maybe I will use her in a photo shoot. Oh no you won’t, you sit down and eat your supper. Ahhhhh, not this again..

The powder room
Okay, maybe being haunted by the Smith’s isnt all varnish and engine talk. But it is a cool house and a bit of a glimce of what life was like in Algonac in the early 1900’s. Other that cold 9 months out of the year.

A guest house?

Amazing textures

SO? Which Smith was it that owned this home? Anyone at the Michigan gang know?
I think we need Art or George Burgess on this one.
I believe this was Jay Smith’s house. (Someone correct me if I am wrong). So, not Jay’s.
These 2 homes are less than 1/4 mile away from each other. Jay’s house address was 2424. Hopefully someone has the answer of which Smith family member lived here.
Maybe Sam lived in this one?
So no garage and no water view/water access? I am confused. It is a beautiful house but with 100 year old mechanical systems and plumbing and electrical, this could be a can of worms. Has anyone seen the move ‘The Money Pit’?
Well there is wallpaper with lighthouses in what I assume was a boys bedroom
That is a cool house, with a lot of history. By looking at the map. I probably drove by it when we were in Algonac for the 100 year celebration in 2022, The price is sure good. Like Steve said no garage , water view or access. Things that are important in Michigan. I hope it sells to a person who appreciates it.
I don’t know which Smith it would be, as there were lots of CC Smiths in the Algonac area.
I know the location and its a stones throw from where the Aiken boat parties were……..which then became the Algonac Harbor Club Show.
Old houses, like old boats, are worth the extra work. Mine is 105 years old. So much quality and character. And my cabin is 85 years old. I’m a glutton for punishment!
You have a brother named Chris Smith? Could these stories get any weirder?
I learned from members of the maritime museum that the home was built by Bernard Smith, brother to Christopher.
Thanks Ern, I knew the Michigan gang would come through!
