It All Starts With A Boat! Next A Global Headquarters. And Then?

In Finland they are true SONS OF VARNISH!
Over 25 years ago, I thought.. mmm, might be fun to get a boat. Naturally my first thought was a used Whaler. Some mid 80’s thing. We loved it. We didn’t own any home on the water but did have access to the water. My pal at the time said.. Watch out, next thing you will need a house… and a hat. I laughed it off. Ya.. hindsite.. Anyway, wood boats where not even in the realm of thought. Not even close. My brain was compaletly void of the thought. It was focused on work, family and dealing with life in a large city.

Germany
Many commented on the caption global HQ in regards to the Railway. Ya, its a goof for sure, but oddly based on a truth. Woody Boater reaches readers from all over the globe. Yup! We have lots of readers and commnetors from Germany, Finland, Sweden, The Netherlands, England, Australia, of course New Zealand, France, South Africa, and yes, even Canada. I have seen on on the App, when it used to work.. UGH, readers from all over, although I suspected that the cluster in India, Vietnam, and Russia are some sort of spam robots. I get calls from China all the time. I think they are telling me my Warrenty is up? Known as Spambots. YES! That’s the sign of global domination. SPAMBOTS!

New Zealand!

Fenderland!

Sweden

The Netherlands

China?

Mars?
So today, we would love to hear from our Woody Globers, wait Globber? Globeer? Ahhh ugh, I am sure it all gets lost in translation anyway.
This WoodyBoater from “Where it all Began” was born into wood boats. There was no choice in the matter and I have never regretted it for a minute!
Don’t forget Siberia. My home land.
Perth, Western Australia is about as far on the other side of the world as you can get.
Had the house in a marina with a single fixed jetty, but no boat for 10 years. It was a case of what boat to get; rubber duck to dive off? Speedboat to ski behind? Pontoon to entertain off?
Then 2013 I found my first woodie to restore; a 1958 homebuild with the dimensions of a Healey. Then fell for an 80 year old, beautiful wooden hull with a complete history in our estuary, in 2014 and fitted an inboard into that. I’ve restored a woodie every year since for various people. I now have two floating jetties and three boats ( usually 2 on the water and 1 in the garage) having built my own design, plywood speedboat and am loving them all. We boat all year round so there’s still one season left to cover. Love the new HQ, Matt!
How about the people’s republic of Seattle? It is in a far away state of mind.
Hello from The Hudson River to The St. Lawrence River to Lake Michigan.
Northern KY here!
Fenderland! love it.
Canada is a big country eh… On the west coast we bring our fenders in.
Love the new HQ!
WoodyBoater, northern MI ops.
Kia Ora from New Zealand. Home of The America’s Cup and a growing number of Chris Craft and Century boats. Our annual classic boat show is supposed to be held this weekend Covid lockdown permitting.
Here a message from The Netherlands.
Matt’s old yard building did remind me of some pre 2nd ww photo’s of our yacht club.
No motorboats or runaboats in that period at this club. In the front at the right a typical river fishing boat.
I’m not from Mars, but I am from Portland. A lot of people do think it’s like Uranus.
Now that’s funny right there, I don’t care who you are. Always love Uranus jokes in a new context.
Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.
Dang, I thought maybe someone would chime in from Lake Titicaca! or even Djibouti….. Guess not…..or DID they?
