Just 36 Days Away – 6 More Days Until The Official Count Down.
Bung holes all filled? How many coats of varnish have you got down yet? Chrome back from the shop? This year Woody Boater is in full force at the Sunnyland ACBS show. Texx, Paul, Karen, Alex… and some surprise guests, you don’t want to miss this years show for sure. The Golden Pond Boats will be there restored and in the water..with some more surprise guests .. It’s a full bore marathon at Katz’s Marina, all very hush hush.. Will they be in the water and complete? You will need to be at the show to find out. . Considering the boats were not started until late August. Preserved and rebuilt, bottoms, frames engines all of it. No One knows.. And you can see all that in 36 days… We here in Woodyboaterville are getting ready with a limited edition set of t shirts to be announced next week. Last year we sold out at Lake Dora in two days. And this years Woody’s For Boobies will have a special t shirt given to folks donating over 100 bucks. It’s gonna be a busy 36 days that’s for sure.. So if you haven’t started sanding, varnishing sanding, get out there into the barn and start working!
Let’s see, I can work my tail off for 36 days. OR I can show up with a cooler full of beer an get a ride. HMMM Tough decision. If the shirts are today banner I want 2!!
Go for the beer Jim, save your energy for Taveres!
I too vote thumbs up for the banner! And, I agree with Dunking Wench that you should opt for the beer. I’ll give you a ride!
This is the year of beer and fun!
MATT, The header is a MUST for an official T shirt!! This should become a new Society!!! Sign me up!!!!!
Great header! Looks like that pirate disease ARRRGH! has been blowing around is catching! A good thing. If you are a pirate, there are certain expected behaviors, like drinking, swearing, being on-board your ship and continually cruising off to far away places! I’m certainly ready!
Aye, Maties! Welcome to the briny deep blue thingy!
That should be a shirt! I want one.
Can you give the gents at Katz’s some shirts to sell so I can finally get one, or do they only go to those with time and gas money?
Matt,
I’m with RiverRat. It shure would be great for us Woody Boaters that can not make it down to Dora to be able to order a T shirt off the web site. What ya say?
Greg
I want a shirt if it’s a print of the banner on this story!! Or just send me the artwork and I’ll make them myself!! I like!!!
Matt. I would be willing to act as a distributor. Make an extra 100. I would buy the lot and I would take the orders and do the mailings. The Woody Boater satellite operation. Or chose someone else. Just a thought.
I’m scheduling my tattoo today. I hope everything is spelled correctly.
Chad, you are young. Remember that skin & other body parts sag over time! Place your tats carefully!
I occasionally drive through VA and MD, and I’ll be in PA for Easter. Tell me the rest stop and I’ll be there for a shirt if it’s the banner.
Chad, I think its spelled right? As to tshirts.. Stay tuned!
Do they also come in argyle?
I would also love to own one of your WB t-shirts. Its along drive from the Pacific NW just to get one. Sign me up for a mail order.
And so, Matt Lauren, heretofore black sheep of the Lauren family, proves that fashion sense is genetic, his striking skull-and-paintbrush artwork becoming this year’s pink.
Or is it Matt Hilfiger?
I’ll take a t-shirt and a yacht ensign with that design!
I’m with m-fine,
I’m good for two tee-shirts and one ensign or burgee.
Yah and ensign and burgee. This would look great on my homemade boat!
WARNING Woodyboaters: Alex has taken WB to an all time low by posting as, you guessed it, the award winning, Century owning MikeM!!
For the record, we don’t do Argyle!
Alex, you may want one of the new WB shirts but I don’t think you “Have what it takes”…..
I have never been and don’t even own a boat but I decided to go this year. Family heading to Ohio the week after for spring break so I’m treating myself to a long weekend. Will have food, beer, camera and I don’t believe I will need anything else. Any Woody Boaters giving rides?? I hope to find a nice older outboard for my new Glen-L Squirt build while I’ there.
John
MikeM, might it be an autocorrect glitch? It’s easy to see how one can start entering “A l e” and end up with a MikeM.
Don’t leave me in suspense. Exactly what does it take?
You know I think everyone is overlooking the obvious ………the header is on the back of Texx’s bike leathers. And if it isn’t it should be.
HA – I’m afraid that if I show up at a boat show wearing my Sons of Varnish patch that I will be harassed by the boat cops…
as former bikers…we are really digging the banner! excellent job my friends…we’re good for three!!!
john martin, glad to hear you will be making the trip…
trust me you show up with beer we’ll be more than willing to fire up and run!!!
Oh, there will be beer. I don’t buy the junk stuff either.
I love the banner.
Is anyone making a week of it by doing the St Johns River run South?
I had a blast last year! Just remember to pack sunscreen!!!
Tom – We received an e-mail a few days ago from 72 Hornet to let us know he was planning to attend the St. Johns River Cruise with this 56′ CC Continental. Hot sure north or south, he will chime in to confirm…
Speaking of the St Johns River cruises, I’ve been trying in vain to find out what the restrictions are along this run. I’ve talked to the various water authorities along the route but they take in circles.
Does anybody have an idea what max draft and max air draft would be for participating in this run?
I won’t be doing it this year but have thought taking a small cruiser (i.e. 30′ or less) on that trip would be great.
I just booked our flights today (spendy at this time of the year) and the house rental is arranged. can’t wait to get there. Been 5 months since the last show already….too long.
Tom,
I am bringing my close friend’s 1956 23′ Continental down for him. He is wintering in Florida and I am hauling it down for him. Not sure any of my Century’s would float! (Just kidding). I am heading for the southbound trip and then pull over to Mt. Dora for the weekend Show. I’m planning on leaving Iowa on March 14th and arrive in JAX on Friday morning to launch and make sure all is ship shape for the trip and show…
Ok tavares/dora folks, I posted on the CCABC site that it is time for another BOAT BUZZ UNPLUGGED MEETING……at the Club/Woodyboater.com tent….friday as per usual?
Time? Dinner together again….like in Newport News!!
John in Va.
72hornet,
Enjoy the cruise you will have a great time. I have been on two cruises, the first one way back in 1989 and last years trip. I was amazed how many people who I met on the first cruise, were also on last years cruise. Great group of people. Great boat show as well.
Take your time and enjoy the scenery watch for the Gators and Manitee. Remember you are cruising not freezing. Bring plenty of sunscreen as I forgot last year and by the time we had finished our first day of cruising my face was burnt like lobster with raccoon eyes from my glasses. Nothing many beers didn’t cure.
Unfortunately I wont be able to make it down this year. Unless the hockey team that I am a trainer for loses again this year early in the playoffs. ( SHHH don’t let them know that I am hoping they do, so I can join everyone in Florida again. )
Send updates along the trip to us unfortunate ones back up North.
Tom Keyes
Tom,
What boat were you on last year? I had the 1956 23′ Chris Continental last year and the 1929 before, we always have gone on the soughtbound trip. We had great weather and alot of fun as usual! Sorry that you won’t be able to be there! My first run was in 1995 and I have really enjoyed the trip and the show. By the time I get back to Iowa after this, we are close to the lake thawing and are ready to gear up for the summer!
Cheers to all!
72hornet,
Last year I was in Grandpas Dream a 30 Hacker on the South Bound trip. We had a great trip. It was the first time that my brothers and I got to do a trip with our father. We hope to do it again next year and include some of the grandchildren.
Enjoy your trip and hopefully when you get back the ice will be thawed.
