Just 93 Days Til Summer!

,

Just 3 months away, out on a Woody Boat with the Boatress surrounded by other Woody Boaters. Priceless fun!

93 days… Just 93 days and it’s summer. A Lake Dora Summer! Which is like their winter, their summer is very very hot. I like their winter/early spring, not to be confused with our Winter which is like fall in Michigan, which is like a summer in San Fransisco! I think…. Who cares, in 93 days we are going to be on a boat on the water, and smelling the smell of old gas and exhaust once again. The cool thing looking forward is that this summer is (chocked? chalked?) full of fun stuff to do. Right after Lake Dora, up in Canada, Antique Boat America/ Canada is putting on a massive Canadian Boat 2013 Wooden Boat Conference and seminar series . CLICK HERE. We will fill you in later on that one, if you ever wanted to know anything about Canadian boats, this is a must go event. Then after that we are going to go to one or two spontaneous shows and then the big Cruise for the cure event on Torch lake Michigan, and then a VERY SPECIAL Woody Boater exclusive event is in the works. Then off to the Northwest to go cruising. A summer of Woody Boating to look forward to for sure.  If you have not yet made plans for Lake Dora, you may want to get a room now, anything on the lake has pretty much been scooped up by now. The Mission Inn is always a good bet and a ton of folks stay there, that may be our home this year. You can find out more about the Sunnyland ACBS here.

Dora ain’t summer. It’s WooHoody Spring Break. And all that implies. Well, most of what that implies. Ok, some of what that implies…

We got our rooms booked for Mt Dora already, and “Old School” is waiting for me to pick her up on my way down. She is sitting in the showroom, at Carolina Classic Boats and Cars in Clinton S.C.

The past will come alive as the vintage and classic race boats of bygone eras return to Wooten Park in Tavares, Florida for our seventh annual CRA Spring Thunder Regatta. Tavares is a major stop on the CRA Winter Vintage Circuit, and this spring’s regatta expands to 3 full days, with over 75 beautifully restored vintage and classis race boats running demonstration laps on a 1 mile oval course on beautiful Lake Dora. In addition to seeing and hearing these unique and beautiful boats run, spectators are invited to view them close-up in the pit area at Wooten Park on both Saturday and Sunday.
