Like Estate Sales? This Weekend In Kingsburg, You Know Near Dinuba!
I suppose because your on Woody Boater you already know there is a punchline here. But for a second enjoy the search and surprise. Thanks to fellow Woody Boater Chad Durran for finding this little gem buried in between cups and chairs between Selma and Visailia.. Hey, does it really matter, its in the middle of no place! I smell a deal though..
Wait for it…………
Wait
Wait. What the heck? Look up from the table of wooden fishermen and BAM!
So, here is the question of the day. There you are, no trailer, and in the middle of no place. What do you do? Its a 1958 or 1957-1958 26′ Express, Like fellow Woody Boater Pat Chaps has. All done with a 5200 bottom and done very very right and nice.
If you want to go to the Estate Sale here is the Craigslist LINK
Here is Pats Restored on in Algonac Michigan.
I LOVE these boats! (But than again what boat don’t I LOVE?) For me these have the class of a Red and White with a 50’s Bull Nose.
Wait one cotton picking minute. The heck with the boat I am going to make the trip to CA so I can buy those wooden fisherman and bring them back to the family where they belong.
Chad good thing it is in CA. I got an empty trailer and could pick you up when you find one in central Illinois. Looks like something you would like to spend the weekend loading.
9.5 hr flight or 36 hr drive non stop hmmmmmmmmmmmm, I Got This!!!!!!
Interesting that the CC Essentials lists only twin engines. I know they made a few singles. Bob Guldemond has one with a single M that he is currently resorting.
It is probably a Commuter with the hard top. They are listed as having been build with a single M.
(BTW Matt: second edition with a crappy dumb phone camera)
Look! Vintage wood carvings of Matt and Texx!
It is interesting how these things seem to show up in multiples.
Last I knew Pat Chaps was putting his up for sale and there was also one in the “Field of Dreams” in Tavares. The sign said $18,00.00. I told him I would be glad to pay the $1,800.00 price. I don’t think he found it very funny.
Reality bites
I reached out to Pat to link it for him, but he never responded. I had heard around 40K which is a very good price considering it has a new 5200 bottom
He told me 43K in an e-mail, with what sounds like a very nice trailer.
There is also a “sweet” looking pontoon boat in the first photo. And the C-C looks to be on a trailer. Kingsburg is only 4 hours away …
Pulling out the “way back” machine…
I looked at one in 2011 at the ABC on the same trip when I came back by your place Matt and purchased Betsy. That boat was my second choice.
Thanks for the tip, Matt. Just happen to be in Kingsburg for our spring visit with the grandkids. Saw the estate sale sign when I was talking my grandson to school this morning. Guess we know how we will be spending the afternoon. Not sure how Delta would handle the extra carry-on back to Montana.
Ol Salt, let us know how the auction goes. Good luck!
