One Week From Today We Will Be Basking In Sunscreen!

Jim Staibs “Lucky 7” U22
Seven days! In Seven days the show officially starts, but really it starts the second you close the car door, turn the ignition and watch the outside temps rise by the mile. There is nothing like stopping for fuel part of the way there and realizing its warm enough outside to wear shorts. We are “planning” on bringing WECATCHEM, and we can now also report that the Blue Arabian, will NOT be there. No interior. The engine and boat is done. But certain parts have yet to make it, so she will make her National Debut at a later date. We are thinking Clayton. Although, by then, she will have been water tested and run on Llake Hopatcong. If you follow us on Instagram you noticed we posted a short video of the Cadillac engine running. More to follow.

Fresh from Van Ness Engineering.
Looks like Troy has made it south already and recently posted in the comment section about his visit to Salsberry MD at the Sea Skiff factory. Jim Staib of Fine Wood Boats has also already left, Paul and Karen harrison are also there, removing any drama about there trip that we can gamble on. This weekend there are also some very cool vintage races going on there, so if you are chomping at the bit to get on the way, folks are already there. GIT GOING! Woohooo!
I wish all the WoodyBoaters safe travel and great boating weather. Some year, Marianne and I are going to join you!
Appilachacola last night, Cedar Key tonight, Astor on Friday. Arrive in Jacksonville by boat on Saturday.
Jim: You go right by my house between Apalach and Cedar Key. 2 miles north of I-10 on US 27..Wish I’d known…You could have driven on to Carrabelle (15 miles east of Apalach) and spent the nite at our place on the coast. It was empty but there is a key under the mat.
Is it a Clum key Wilson?
Nope….it’s a nameless faceless lock the builder probably got from Lowes or Home Depot.
What we are really waiting for is pictures of WECATHEM’s test run on Lake Hopatcong in March weather. Rumor has it the ice is off the lake and the temperature on Friday will be in the mid 50’s. and sunny.
We will be leaving Friday at 5 pm and we are so ready to get there. Also looking forward to seeing WECATCHEM in person.
If the weather holds and the weatherman here indicates it will we are going to have great (75/80 degree) weather for the River Cruise and hopefully the same for the show.
Confucius say freezing temps tonight play pond hockey tomorrow
Taking a break at The Cape Fear Marina in Wilmington, NC.
Booked the Trojan on the left for three nights through Air BNB.
Even went to Chops Deli for lunch yesterday as dreed suggested.
Troy,
I found a place where they welcome Mainers with open arms. Positions open.
How did you like it Troy?
Jim thanks for watching out for me.
dreed lunch was great and the lemonade and orangeade are out of this world. Thanks for the info.
We are heading south in the AM tomorrow. First destination is Monroeville, AL of “To Kill A Mockingbird” fame. Then, the long journey east with intensions of being in Sanford, FL by 3:00PM Sunday. We’ll be taking the bus ride north to Orange Park and will see some of you at the Yacht Club for dinner.
Wilson, we will stay on I-10 through Tallahassee, so will miss seeing you if you will be in Carrabelle for the weekend. See ya Thursday in Tavares.
Al:
There is big festival in Carrabelle this weekend honoring all the troops that trained on our beaches for the invasions at Normandy and the South Pacific. I promised one of our County Comisioners that I would bring the Olds convertable so he would have a suitable vehicle to ride in the parade. We have funeral in town this afternoon so depending when it is over we will either drive down to the coast this afternoon or first thing in the AM.
I guess you saw my earlier post indicating that you will most likely have good weather for the River Cruise. Slight chance of off and on showers on Monday but other than that smooth sailing for the rest of the trip.
