Yesterday around 3, I get a call from long time pal, Jimmy Scott. “What are you doing?” I said dying in meetings. He says. “Let’s go boating! I suddenly had a stomach ache. Needed to go home. I have been working long hours at the agency between boating events. So a little spontaneous time is always fun. And with Jimmy, a 100% guaranteed fun time. By 4pm I was headed down my street. And dang, there it was, just a couple houses down from me in our new neighborhood. Jimmy’s rare 1932 Deluxe Runabout.

Dang, she has been hiding is Sean's Garage the entire time.

Moonsher, all ready to go, fresh coat of Bristal, and her 350 mercury motor all cleaned out after 3 years of sitting. Jimmy restored this back in the late 90's. Wow, what a fun...and fast boat

And by 5 we were out tearing up the Potomac River. Now, to be honest, since we moved into our new home, we have yet to make it out on the water here.

Jimmy spent years on this part of the Potomac, and was giving us a fantastic tour. Here he is pointing out the helacopter pad right next door to us? ?????? What?

Hey, life happens. That won’t happen again, the water here is stunning, fun and very peaceful….on weekdays. Restaurants, bars, marinas, homes, fresh water, all right here in one of the largest cities in the US. What the hell? I am 4th generation from this area, and had NO IDEA this was here.

Where in the hell did these come from? How do you get to them? Summer cottages 20 minutes south of DC?

The water calmed down a bit and I was able to lite up Moonshiner. No need to meet my tharapist this week. Been replaced by a full throttle session.

Jimmy had never sat back there, I was glad to help!

So for about 3 hours we just toured the area and had a very nice 3 hour vacation from the local rush hour. Sometimes a spontaneous vacation is more refreshing than a week off!

Headed in right before the sun set. Our boat house is just up on the left.

Here is our boat house in the header today, it’s amazing that this is all so close to DC. No photo shop, its all how it looks. Massy Creek, right off Belmont Bay near Oquaquan / Woodbridge.

It looks like there is something missing from your boathouse. I can’t quite put my finger on it… I see the house part and the water and the sunset but…but…WHERE IS THE BOAT?

Is Suzy still at the summer HQ? Seems like someone should be in the market for a second boat if that is the case.

What a great afternoon. I never thought anything lke that was so near DC. Say high to Jimmy for me. I really enjoyed talking to him at the ABC event last winter. You need to bring him with you to Michigan some day so we can talk again.

Most folks struggle in life to find that perfect balance between the right amount of work and the right amount of play. Jim Scott has mastered this……….and Matt, you are not too far behind! How many boat shows do you go to a year? And you call this work??????
