Stinky Spends A Busy Day Polluting The Air On Lake Hopatcong!
We arrived at around 11 AM yesterday to a familiar sound. WECATCHEM’s “trusty W” idling in the covered marina. I can not tell you what a smile that put on my ears. OK, I just did. The rain gods dumped on us all the way up and throughout the day we had small chances to get in the boats and run around and then speed back to the Marina. But, the good news is that according to the Jersey Weather gods, they may have unloaded all there stuff yesterday. There were moments of sunshine happening for sure.
Stinky is alive and well. No leaks, or major issues. Which is crazy since we have not really done a whole lot with her. I will add, that everyone has fallen in love with her. Add true to her name, she does have a certain scent. But it must make someone smile, cause everyone does.
No one wants her restored. Including me. She has had a valve job and carb, distributor, and complete wiring harness so she is safe..ish…
WECATCHEM. I am not sure words can express what this boat “Junk” is like. To say she is flawless is not the right word, because her finish and attention to detail is so over the top it just… well… POPS? not the right word. The Katzs Gang killed it. The photos kidna tell. But once we can get some good sun rise photos, that will help.
The show. It’s supposed to be a little wet this AM and then me a beautiful day on the lake. There is a great number of boats in the show and folks have been calling the marina all week asking about the boats and if they will be ready. They will be and at the show today and leaving around 3 for a 7 hr drive to Reedville. What could possibly go wrong. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Looks like lake Hopactong and your boats were going strong yesterday, We here in Algonac hope your weather improves like ours did. Most of the gang drove over to the luncheon by car, but it was still a great party. Weather just continued to get better as the day went on and we showed all our friends on the ACBS board of directors what a St. Clair River evening cruise on four knock out big cruisers is all about. The weather is now great and we will be busy docking, judging, giving boat rides and partying all day. Come join us for a good time!
And I thought it was me that caused the rainy issues. Look forward to a report this week! I have seen some of the fun on Facebook, That drone footage is PERFECT
What are the chances of posting the drone video. I am not on Facebook.
Beautiful boats. Good luck with the weather. Hopatcong is a great show, nicest people.
Off topic: I’ve always fueled up with my runabout hatch closed DURING fueling to minimize heavier-than-air gas fumes entering boat, then, AFTER fueling and before starting engine, open hatches wide open and thoroughly ventilate, sniff test etc. Am I doing this wrong?
Bob,
Your method is correct per Boat US. Many opinions on this, but I agree with you and Boat US.
Stinky looks great on the water. Love the “used” look!
Wow! What a pair. Bob must be looking at WECATCHEM.
Nice boats. I hope you have a good show
Just curious about the boot stripes. Why on both boats the starboard side is lower than the port side?
I’ve noticed this on many boats. Only thing I can think of is that it’s from the added weight of the steering gear. My Resorter does this as well.
Love this shot!
Really shows how massive the 25 SP is and how “sportscar” like the Racer is.
The picture of WECATCHEM tied up at KATZ ,is tight to the dock .Is that some special bumper/fender material on the dock that will not mar fresh varnish ?
Yes, the entire marina is designed for classic boats. All the docks have soft sides. Its an amazing place
I WENT BOATING so missed this post until now…great pix great boats and place…..thanks
