Tommy and Jimmy at the helm of this amazing 1957 17′ Chris Craft Runabout. Its flawless!

As you may have noticed, yesterday we headed up to Katzs Marina to take the trusty “W’ for her winter rebuild by Dave Van Ness. Normaly a 4 ish hr trip ended up taking 6 hrs and then about the same to return. Gotta love hitting 3 cities of rush hr twice in one day.

Mmmmm Lancers Breakfast in PA

But it was well worth it.  First its always great to see old friends, a smile and laugh and all the bad traffic goes away.  With in seconds of us arriving, we were out on two amazing freshly redone boats. WOW, the tradition of a Lake Hopatcong last gasp stayed true. Its become an annual event now, and thanks to Seth it stayed that way.

Fresh, stunning,  perfect and ready to go! The gang gets ready to buzz the lake in these two fresh rebuilds. This is a wonderful Last Gasp for sure.

We were able to walk around the marina and see what the Katz’s gang had been Gettin done lately. And the last thing we say blew us away.

Seeing Bob Rice smiling in a wood boat is something we see every time he is in a wood boat. But Bob going that fast in a wood boat, now that is rare ! The magic of a November boat ride on Lake Hopatcong and Last Gasp.

Look what you started Salter! Now Matt and Jimmy are playing hooky to go boating.
As I left for work yesterday I actually thought “If I still had a boat in the water I might just skip today and go BOATING!”.

    Matt,

Why did you drop the “W” off Seth at Katz Marina. Couldn’t you have dropped it off at Van Ness Engineering?

    Just Curious…

My guess is any excuse to hang around a boat shop will do. Especially one with boats in the water. I know that’s what I’d do.

Alex nailed it, plus, its about an hr closer to us at Katzs, and the gang there is doing other work. Dave comes down to the Marina a lot as well and its always fun to hang out in one place. I would love to go up to Daves and do a story, and will this winter while the trusty W is being worked on.

Notches? Just how do you do ~15 frames in less than a week? Some details on that procedure please.
Since no notchos are they going with a plywood bottom?

The boats are in storage, the flag is put away, and the power is off in the boathouse; it’s officially winter in the U.P.
