The Largest Chris Craft Gathering, Everyone Who Was Anyone Will Be There.
This August, the 28th to be exact, up on Gull Lake, there are gonna be a hole lotta special Chris Crafts at the docks, and even more Chris Craftians, NEW WORD BTW. And a bunch of other Algonac area boats, Gar Woods, belle Isle, etc. In other words, they will be shipping in some of those bugs that die in hords under the lights up in Michigan. And huge news. I mean huge.. Word has it, The old man himself is going to make an appearance. Yup, Christopher Columbus Smith himself. Yup. You heard it here first. SCOOP! SIKE! BOOOOYA!
Now, first a couple things. You have to be one with the universe, and be in tune with the vibrations of wood. Not the loose shaft vibration, the breathing life that wood embodies and holds. See, with all that original wood in one location, certain spirits are going to be together in one place. Lenny from Steam Bending, and Earl from Engine Painting haven’t seen each other or been together since 1939. And now, they will be. There souls will all be there having a beer and sausage.
You just have to walk the docks and rub your ears onto the wood. Yup. Ester in Accounting at Chris Craft was having a secret affair with Roy in Blue Prints, and well, Ester’s Husband Berney worked in the wood shop, and well, chances are they should all be there. So a whole lotta ship could go down. And you thought boat shows are boring. Not when you bring it all together.
And so, you can see, that after 40 or so Chris Crafts come together, little pieces Of Christopher Columbus Smith come together and he may appear. Hey, it’s the internet, and I am a “social media Influencer” so it has to be true.
There ya have it. Huge gathering of historic boats, dead Chris Craft employees, and possibly some good old Jerry Springer fights, all located in one of the most perfect classic boat settings on the planet.
Interested in more details? Well, guess what? There is a website on the whole event. RIGHT HERE. CLICK.
I’m sure this will be another amazing Minnesota boat show, but Matt, I think you may want to consider decaf for a while! Thanks for sharing.
If you get lost or just want to see a smaller event come see us in Three Lakes, WI
And then my nephew decided to get married in that very same weekend. Ugh.
You can always just send a gift and promise to make it to his next wedding.
I got the P-SB16 version of the scanner. In addition to AM and FM bands it includes VHF so I can listen for Boater Ghosts!
I’ve registered my Chris-Craft by Thompson Corsair fiberglass outboard the “Blue Bomb”. Hope she gets accepted
This will be incredible as usual – Bar Harbor is just such a spectacular venue for such an event …
Traditionally The Largest gathering of Chris Crafts in the world is in Port Orchard Washington which happens to be this weekend. However the “Chris Craft Rendezvous” may have to give up its title this year because the event has been limited to 30 boats. In Past years this event has drawn over 100 Chris Craft’s
Wow, that’s some marketing genius right there. Quite an imagination Matt, but you’ve been at this for years. That’s one tasty carrot on the end of that stick. “Everyone who is anybody”, I guess that leaves me out, lol. Is the CCSmith on the deck with all those flappers? And what’s with all those dots on the deck of that cabin? non skid? or wth?
Great article Matt! My business, Rudder USA, will have a booth there this year! If you are in attendance, catch us on the 28th!
Nicole, My sister loves her Co Captain Tee shirt. Your Rudder gear is first rate. Goldens are a big part of our lake life too.
My fiancé and I are getting married at the Quarterdeck Resort September 11, 2021. We can’t wait to head up to the lake a few weeks before our wedding and see all the incredible boats! Maybe we can convince someone to let us do a photo-op on our special day too! I can only dream.
