Venice Italy Day 2 – We Got, White Boats, Grey Boats, Green Boats, Blue Boats, Wood Boats.

As you sit there looking at all the boats, which by the way is like sitting on a street in NYC and looking at all the cars, you start seeing subtle differences in the water Taxis, which are the real style of the boats here. the Water Taxi is more like a Limo would be in NYC. And man oh man, they got some different style boats here.

Regardless, it was a fun day yesterday to just sit, sip coffee, wine and eat little meals and watch. I will add that if you want to look like a local have a dam cell phone with you at ALL TIMES. It may just be me, but there is something lost in it. Oh, I know I know, its life. But it kinda kills the moment. And after all, they are all here for just us!
The Cello is just a large blue tooth speaker!
I will say though, there are some gorgeous people that live here. The tourists, all bazillion of them are sure easy to spot.

Okay, I am being told…again to put the camera down.
Oh! Okay! My long lens does look like a missile launcher compared to all the dam phone cameras! So we headed to our apartment for a little Vino while I sorted through the photos.
The happy family sitting on our balcony having a glass of wine and talking with there hands now!
Today we head to Lake Como for four glorious days. We have some tours set up with a local restoration shop and fingers crossed a museum that has been closed for over 10 years! 600 boats.

Did you buy a boat yet? People bring home all sorts of silly trinkets, but if you bring home a water taxi from Venice, I think that would be an all time best souvenir.
OK. I don’t see any grass or fire hydrants. Where does the dog go to do his business??
They have special boats for that.
Make you you walk through the Gondola repair yard and get over to Lido. If you need a place to stay over there, we “know people.”
Venice is the best. Would love to visit again someday. Boat Heaven.
As for the phones, every time I go anywhere in Europe, so many people, especially younger folks, but not always, are staring at their phones. But then, in the US, too.

More great pics. They have brought back a LOT of great memories. You put in a lot of great shots of pretty people, as well as pretty boats. T he roof top shot brought back memories of fun afternoons. M-fine said that there are 20,000 boats in Europe. I think 10,000 are in Venice.
Hey Matt, great pics. The oar bracket on those gondolas is called a “forcola”. The history, evolution and craftsmanship surrounding forcolas is worth a couple blog posts alone. They are functional art. Post some photos if you can. If you really want to dig into it, there should be some “remeri” shops who create forcolas in the city – might be worth a trip back to Venice some day.
We are fortunate to have a 1975 Cucchini water taxi on Lake Tahoe. My Dad, George, (Dode), Hall, purchased Giovanni from a retiring taxi driver in 1982. He actually bought it right off the Venice’s grand canal. This is one of the few remaining “long deck”, inborard’s with the engine located under the front deck. We re-powered her with a 454 crusader engine and she get a lot of use every summer.
