From Georgia, to California and in between in Oklahoma, it’s boat show weekend. All very fun and well attended shows. So if you are with in a couple hrs drive you can leave the lawn mower in the garage and go sniff some varnish. Here are the websites so you can find out more, or just look at the trusty ACBS calendar on the left. The Lake Arrowhead Annual show is a very cool event and full of  history and you get to meet an amazing group of folks.

. Now if you are closer to Oklahoma, and who isn’t. The Heartland ACBS gang is a ton of fun.. Woody Gal will greet you with her big smile and a beer.. Tell her Woody sent ya! The Mahogany and Chrome Show name says it all.. Much better than the plywood and drywall show that is going on at your local Home Depot.. So  Link Here and get going..

In Oklahoma.. Ok its not mahogany color.. The name is open to interpretation.

A group of classic boats heads out onto Lake Chatuge for an evening tour of the lake Thursday night, June 5, from the Ridges Resort Marina. The tour was the kickoff of the 27th Annual Lake Chatuge Rendezvous, in combination with the Antique and Classic Boat Society's annual Spring Meeting. Nearly 50 boats will participate in the event, which runs through Sunday, June 8.

Kentucky wonder here, reporting on early happening at the ACBS Spring Meeting and the 27th Annual Lake Chatuge Rendezvous, held by the ACBS Blue Ridge Chapter.

Kirsten Johnson, left, and Charles Mistele sit in the cockpit of Miss America IX, a 1930 hydroplane built and raced by Gar Wood. Johnson is part of Wood's extended family, and paid Mistele a visit to learn what she could about her great-uncle's racing exploits and boat building business. Mistele has owned the boat for many years. Johnson met Mistele during the ACBS Blue Ridge Chapter's 27th Annual Lake Chatuge Rendezvous.

Attached are photos, mostly of Charles Mistele and Kirsten Johnson. Mistele owns Miss America IX built and raced by Gar Wood, as you know, and Johnson is Gar Woods great niece. Her grandmother was Gar Wood’s youngest sister. After finding a box full of family photos, she is here to do some research into Gar Wood, and stepped into a wooden boat for the first time ever during the show here.

The Rendezvous itself is going to be one of the best in Lake Chatuge history, in part because the ACBS Spring Board Meeting is here.
I would also like to report that Paul and Karen Harrison made it here without a mechanical breakdown.”

Thanks Kentucky,  So fellow Woody Boaters we have you covered. The lawn will grow only about 1/100 of an inch.. It can wait.. So can Cleaning out the garage, and other stuff you can do on rainy days..

Not going to be able to attend the Lake Arrowhead show this year. Family is participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life walk Saturday and Sunday. Everyone have a great weekend and boat safe.
