Woods & Water II Preview Part 6: The Show!
Well, here we are. The end of the preview. Gotta say. WOW! Rabbit has knocked it out of the park and more importantly, the entire Land O Lakes Chapter has as well. Actually, it looks like the entire sate of Minnesota has. As John Allen once told me, it’s the hospitality State. And trust me, he is 100% correct. The second you arrive at the event, you will feel welcome and somehow part of the family. Now, as family, I need to ask a question. And since Rabbit is a writer by trade, and has from time to time corrected me.. His copy starts with (its)…should it be it’s? Now I ask, because I was going to fix it and move on. But maybe he knows something I don’t. Or is it dont?
Woods & Water II Preview Part 6: The Show!
If it’s Friday that means (its) Or (It’s) show time at Bar Harbor, and the show’s satellite location at Zorbaz on the lake, right around the point on Gull. Hopefully your boat was nestled into its slip on Thursday and you’ve done your final prep. There will be close to two hundred boats on display. Yes, everyday boats. But also some of the most significant runabouts and gentleman’s racers in the world. Minnesotan’s love their vintage boats and lake life, so you can expect the docks to be packed both days. Make sure you make your Bar Harbor lunch reservations because the place will be hoppin’.
Every detail has been considered by the Land-O-Lakes volunteers, our generous sponsors, and the attentive staff at Bar Harbor. Our chapter’s John Matthius will provide the soundtrack on the docks and patio at Bar Harbor, with an expertly curated selection of boating themed music and expert trivia. (John was a personality in automotive programming earlier in his career, so he’s a pro’s pro.) Along with John’s commentary, your ears will also be treated to an occasional roar of a Liberty, Rolls Royce Meteor, or Allison aero motor firing up. Just another day on Gull.
Friday evening will be another night not to be missed with the ACBS Fundraising Event at Lee Anderson’s breathtaking boathouse and Anderson Museum, home to his famous collection of vintage boats and cars. If you were fortunate to register early enough to attend the events at John’s and Lee’s they will be nights to remember.
John and Lee’s generosity and support make so much of this possible. And as every ACBS member knows, they are proud custodians of some of the most significant vintage boats in the world.
Saturday the show will continue at Bar Harbor followed by the awards ceremony that evening. Yes, an amazing ten days will finally draw to a close, but the memories will last forever.
THANK YOU TO RABBIT AND THE ENTIRE TEAM!
Sir Plug a Lot has been outdone. Congratulations Rabbit!
I love it!
The best recognizing the best! You’ll have your chance soon enough, Greg.
Heaven willing and a few last minute hurdles to clear, Taylor M will be present and accounted for dockside!
What a journey down the path it’s been! Without my brother-from-another-mother Bob Bramlage on point, this ninety-four year piece of family history may have never floated again. So many of our friends in the hobby have helped to make this happen!

It’s (or its) a long run, but I’ll be bringing a little bit of Clayton to the show.
