24 Days til Mt Dora, And Sylvia Is Smiling.

I swear, after 4 years of stewardship of Sylvia I think I see a smile on her bow. It could not have come at a better time. Varnishing is like the doldrums. It lasts for ever and when its over you are happy and yet the peacefulness of it is over. This part of the process has been the most difficult, not because it’s hard work, but because you are doing the same thing over and over with is very little reward. You’re always “just one coat ” away from the end. But every now and then a glimmer of hope slips in. A dust free coat, or as you are looking over every detail like cleaning seam filler off the deck with your fingernail, you see it. This time it was Sylvia smiling right at me. Saying thanks, keep going. I just need one more coat. Oh crap!

Your boat is looking great. You have done a super job. Are there many other woodys in your area?

Thanks for the props. There are a ton of them in the area. The online community is amazing though and I have more contact with folks all over the country. Iowa, Missori, Califonia, just to name a few. It’s one of the cool parts to this small passtime. I must add, an amazing comunity. Very helpful and nice.
