Another Crappy Story From Woody Boater.

,

Been there, done that, had those on, and gaged through it all

We got this fun report in from long time fellow WoodyBoater Tom Gruenauer regarding a new project barn find. I had to wait because of all the amazing perfection coming out of Michigan this past week. Somehow I love the contrast of Toms new Stink Bomb after all that mahogany insanity. A true reflection of our wonderful community. BTW, Tom is very familiar with amazing perfection.

Tom Gruenauer spent over 25 years restoring his 1928 Chris Craft 24’ triple “Forever.”

“I have my own version of stinky family of raccoons took up residence in my 1966 18′ Chris Craft cavalier while in longtime storage what was the process you used to get stinky cleaned out good enough to paint? and not smell bad?”  Tom. “I used Purple Power”, Matt

Davey Crockett will be showing up at your door soon Tom!

“After removing 25 pounds of raccoon crap and the body of one late Mr . Raccoon I power washed the inside of the hull if you look close my face shield has a brown streak running down on it

Perfection

Oh boy!

And because we all can visualize Fess parker and Buddy Epson now, here ya go!

This story is a nice distraction from the “ mahogany insanity” we have enjoyed for the last few days. This boat is a little more up my alley. I love a challenge and I am sure Tom will make her classy again.

HA HA! Been there done that. Looks like a good candidate for a RestoMod. Painted Cavalier wont require all those perfect layers of Varnish.. Scarfe in some new plywood, drop in a V8, paint it up and there you have it . KInda like back in the day when you could bondo up an old BMW or Porsche and get it sprayed at Earl Schibes for paint and go. I think youve got another category of WoodyBoater… And these projects can be a lot of fun and very rewarding… You dont have to spend a lot of money or time on a project and can be very rewarding .
Tho Id be careful with that powerwasher on that delaminated plywood. 🙂

Tom never takes on the easy ones! Kinda hope this one happens a little faster than his Triple did!

Tom has said, many times, it is a workshop, not a garage…We even suggested, after the triple emerged, that we stage a car in the “garage” to prove it COULD happen…NOPE 😉

Tom’s CC triple was worthy of the 2 1/2 decades spent restoring her. I hope he’ll send in updates on the Cavalier. It gives me hope I might be able to complete one of my relics before my wife sends me out in it for my Viking funeral my family has promised. The good thing about that Cavalier is you have one giant plank on each side and 2 on the bottom and Boom, you’re done 😆lol. Of course you got to scarf sheets of plywood and you’re gonna need about six people to force that unwieldy thing into place while you’re clamping and screwing.
